I recently discovered Longmire and really like it. Been watching it on Circle Network. Any fans? I was surprised how long it was around.
Posted By: thumbcocker Re: Longmire - 11/17/22
I watch it on occasion on the outdoor channel on Friday nights
Posted By: troublesome82 Re: Longmire - 11/17/22
I binged the whole thing, solid entertainment! Raiiiiiiniiiiiieeeeeeeeeeer Beeeeeeeeeer!

Some decent gun scenes. Both handgun and rifle. Been watching every night on Circle.

Wife got me into it, & I wound up watching the entire series over a couple years. Not bad, a hell of a lot better than so many things on. Not perfect by a long shot, but not bad or TV time wasted.

Good series. The wife & I watched it about 6 or 7 years ago on Netflix. We still watch the reruns on circle if we are channel surfing and it is on.

Better than 98% of the stupid Woke, LGBT Bullschitt that passed for TV shows nowadays.

Shame they ended the series. It was one of my favorite.

It’s a good show to watch on Netflix with no commercials.

Walt stays busy!

I like it. Been watching it for several years but haven't read any of the books.

Just finished binge watching it on Netflix a few weeks ago. Great show. I mean, yeah, there’s some Hollywood bull [bleep], but compared to everything else, great show.
Posted By: saddlering Re: Longmire - 11/17/22
I liked it and have all the books, but for last one!
Posted By: skeen Re: Longmire - 11/17/22
I enjoyed the series. I guess that makes me a fan. smile

Wife and I just started watching a few weeks ago on Friday nights on the outdoor channel.
We look forward to several hours of decent TV instead of the crap on the other channels.
Can't wait til I'm fixed and don't sit around this much any more ....

Supposed to be Wyoming, but filmed in New Mexico.
It's a really good series though.
I've re-watched many times.

I enjoyed the books and the TV show. I'm a fan.

Haha! No kidding! But I think it's an excellent show. Can be predictable to some degree, but again, a good, short, binge series with great characters.

Check out your local used book store...the Longmire books are a great read!
Posted By: Winchester21 Re: Longmire - 11/17/22
MUCH, MUCH, MUCH better than yellowstone. Kevin Costner is a no talent hack and the series is unwatchable.
Posted By: MMM Re: Longmire - 11/17/22
Great show. I have watched the series through twice. Big Deputy Vic fan.

I thought the show was good; but, not great. I liked it enough to watch the whole thing start to finish over a few months. As a soldier I could never get past the scene where Deputy Vic, walking amongst the spent rounds at a crime scene, called them five fifty six cases. I actually, sort of angrily, said out loud "it's five-five-six, either that or you counted a lot of spent rounds awfully fast". My wife looked at me and rolled her eyes.

I was watching Star Trek Discovery until I discovered that it was rife with homos (both the male and female variety) and a tranny. No hot chicks as in all other Star Trek series. Not sure why they think they have to ruin almost every show with f@ggotry & groids in the highest positions. Hard to find a modern show without it.

Ol Ferg gots the blue T/A too.

Season 2, episode 1, “An Unquiet Mind”. Filmed on one ranch I elk hunt on in Eagle Nest, NM. As Walt is climbing the hills searching for the bad guy he encounters apparitions due to exposure. That’s right where I killed a pretty, well earned, 6x6. Also ate many a burger from the restaurant in the opening scene.

Katee Sackhoff is a cutie, but lib, as expected. I reached out to her and got a Longmire cast denim jacket for my wife. They are both the same size. She looks pretty snazzy in it.

Ya, in Chicago they don’t leave guys covered in steaks tied to trees in bear country.

Two words.........

Katee Sackhoff

I tried to watch it some years back, but could not get into it. Drunken cop with girl issues, faithful indian side kick. inter office conflict and poor story line, bad acting and goofy plots.
Posted By: RockyRaab Re: Longmire - 11/17/22
Keep in mind that the TV series is nothing like the books. There's no Casino problem in the books for just one - and Vic jumps Walt a LOT in the books. The only book in the series that closely matches the TV series is "Land of Wolves" which I am now reading. But the biggest problem (pun intended) is that the TV Henry is a small meek man and in the books he's a huge killing machine of a man.

Johnson's prose is exquisite. The scripts, not so much.

Yep - much filming was in our little town.
Walt's office was staged over on the Old Town Plaza, lots of film was shot in Santa Fe, Espanola, and the Valles Grande.
We watched it as it was coming out on TV the original time.

Read the books. I watched the whole series before I started on the novels, and the show just pales in comparison.

Try Hell on Wheels if you want something to watch.

Was a fan until the very last episode. Spoiler alert - takes a sad left turn.

Kassidy Freeman acts about as well as Costner (wooden) and has crazy eyes.... creeps me out.

Sheriff Longmire is a great character, well written and well acted. Especially since it's an Australian actor doing a damn good American accent
Posted By: BlueRidgeHunter Re: Longmire - 11/17/22
It should still be on.
Posted By: DaveinWV Re: Longmire - 11/17/22
I spent an afternoon drinking beer in the bar that was the "Pink Pony" in Longmire back in the 80s. It was named the "Mine Shaft Saloon" back then and wasn't a yuppy bar then. The bar is in Madrid, NM.

I liked the series, despite the fact that they cast Lou Diamond Philips in the role of Henry Standing Bear.

That made about as much sense as casting Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher. Philips is a good actor, but a bad fit in the show.

Yep, watched it all on Netflix !

We really liked it.

Agree about Henry. The TV character ought to be Henry Teddy Bear.

Barry Sloane (sp?) is also Australian . Pretty thick accent.
Couldn’t stand Cassidy Freeman’s character….not at all.

I live in Buffalo, Wyoming. I know Craig Johnson( the writer of the books) . I never seen an episode. I just don't have the attention span to watch a dramatic series........

We really enjoyed the series. They left it open for Walt’s daughter to take over his job.
Posted By: Sakoluvr Re: Longmire - 11/17/22
One of the episodes Walt was being shot at long range with a Ruger No 1. He would run and drop after counting to four, the time it would take the shooter to reload and get back on target.

Walt grabbed a Win lever from his truck and nailed the guy driving away. With open sights.

Where do you see good action like that on Woke TV?
Posted By: BillyGoatGruff Re: Longmire - 11/17/22
Show was pretty good. Books are simple, and a good time filler but nothing outstanding.

Yep. Phillips is a good actor, but he’s a pipsqueak.
Guess there’s not a lot of great Native American actors to choose from.
And of course,Phillips is not a Indian / Native American anyhow. His mother is Filipino and supposedly his dad had a smidgen of Cherokee DNA.

And the midget man, Tom Cruise just about ruined the first Jack Reacher flic for me. 🤪

The guy playing Reacher on the Amazon series did a great job, and is much more believable than Cruise, as Reacher.

There’s unfortunately a lot of small town LEO’s who and SO’s with boozer cops and piss poor Departments. They don’t pay they them schitt, so the folks that fill those jobs are often less than desirable. Often filled by relatives of the Sheriff or Chief.
Fairly typical of a lot of small town or backwoods LEO Departments.

Kinda like Uvalde. 🤪

I like it! I record the three shows every week on the Outdoor Channel and watch over the weekend.

I would say he should've just banged the blonde deputy in the first season and gotten it over with, but......
Posted By: 7mmbuster Re: Longmire - 11/17/22
Wifey got me the complete series on DVD last year for my Birthday.
We watched it together the whole way through. Both of us really enjoyed it.
Like that old Chevy pickup of Standing Bears and Ferg’s T/A too.
Very good series, IMHO.
