haha every couple months I fill a couple garbage bags with the empty cans and used grinder belts. It's not bad right now, but it'd drive anyone that ain't me crazy. I don't know where I put something down till I reach the same level of inebriation I had when I set it down. Kinda weird.

Friends say I am too OCD. Love my workbench area/man cave - HD TV, speakers in the ceiling, heat and cooled. The 2nd bay is where I just stack crap on the floor - mower, shop vac, hunting gear, etc...

There is NO WAY I am posting pictures of mine! There is chit everywhere and I can't even hardly walk in it. There are bins, racks, pallets, buckets and boxes of gun chit everywhere. Most of it I don't even know what it is or where it came from.

Back in the good old days I had room in mine for toys.

My son likes to hunt and shoot. He’s a dyed in the wool conservative but hunting and shooting are like baseball to him. Something that he likes but doesn’t love. I doubt that my six year old daughter will ever be a collector. I hate thinking about them not appreciating or enjoying my lifetime of collecting the way that I have. I love it and would have liked having one of my two kids love it the way that I do.

I hear you. I am not married and never had kids. (Thank you Trojan condoms!) I retired last month and keep telling myself I NEED to get rid of stuff but I sell something and buy 2 more. I like model 70's and I am embarrassed to tell how many I have acquired. I have stuff in the back of some safes that hasn't seen daylight in 20 years. I need to start going to meetings or something.

I focus on newer rifles, telling myself to buy them now before they’re banned. I love older guns. Old Smiths. Blued steel and walnut. A pre war 64 chambered in 300 H&H would be about as good as gets IMO.

redoing my garage, building the shelves using a framing nailer I shot a 3 1/2 in nail into the fat of my hand between my thumb and index finger. Only had maybe 3/4" sticking out. I remember staring at it for a second thinking "this should hurt alot worse than it does".

Most of y’all could throw away/donate 95% of the stuff in your garage and probably never miss it.
You might end up having to replace something for $20 that you got rid of, but 99 times out of 100 it would be worth it not having to deal with the messes everyday that most of you have and for peace of mind.
Never understood having a $50 worth of junk taking up space in the garage while parking a 50k truck outside because there isn’t room for it in the garage.

Between my garage and shop, they are both a mess. The upper level of my shop, where I do my reloading, isn't too bad.

This is the viewpoint of someone who lives in or near a densely populated area or state. If you had to fix something, today, or even tomorrow, and the nearest town where you could obtain it was a hundred or two hundred miles away...you would have a different view. Out here, the prudent man never throws anything away...a fitting, a bolt, a piece of steel, a piece of pipe, a piece of wire, a tool...

Built mine in 2014......30 deep & 50 long..Allied Steel......24 gauge sheeting....R19 rolled insulation

Framed interior 2x4 walls...added 3/4" rigid foam board..along with R13 batting in cavity & then 1/2" OSB over top

Finished product with radiant tube heat...water........doors.....windows & wiring etc around $46K

Money well spent...cozy 68* inside on these cold 10* mornings

Was a big project.....had 2-3 other persons assist on the build

Pleasure in finding that one needle in a haystack when you need it. Pleasure in cleaning it out. And great pleasure in filling it back up.

It's 30 miles to the hardware store. I can make anything at my joint.

I don’t have a garage. Wife thinks we do. What we really have is a wood shop. And a pretty complete one at that. Jointer, planer, tablesaw, bandsaw, drill press, lathe, etc.

no I am paranoid to, the garage doesn't face the road so people passing by can't see in, and when ever someone comes by, if I don't know them I keep the garage shut

For what its worth, I have a 1/2 inch steel cable inside the safe mounted to the wall. Wouldn't stop someone pulling it out with a truck but it would slow down someone trying to dolly them out.

I wish I had some of the bench setups the other guys have in their pics. I'd just spend all my waking moments out there if I did.

It is for sure not densely populated where I live. When we farmed keeping stuff was more important. Even then most of it was junk. There’s useful stuff and then there’s junk. It was more important to keep stuff when we farmed. Even then a lot of the stuff people keep is junk.

I feel your pain! I got married and made the same mistake. I got rid of her almost 10 years ago and it was the best thing I ever did. Never, ever again!

A man should not live without garage/shop space.

One or two of the places I've lived, I've had to build a shed or have one moved on, before someone came and requested I give up my man card.

I was kinda hoping that was the case about the door not facing the street.

My wife thinks I'm a bit overly cautious when I lock ours if we go walking for an hour or so out on the public land behind the house.

We got a little compound started up 1/4 mile or so up the road, PoPo been out there numerous times in the 10 moths or so they've lived there. Animal control, Child services, I think we've gotten code enforcement lookin' at them too.

In the olden days we'd a run'd em oft by now. Maybe be a few new holes dug up in the juniper woods too.
