Happy soggy Thanksgiving! Been dripping all day. I haven't watched
any NFL, but the weather is right for it. Turkey time is 2:30.
Have a Big Time everybody!

Ain’t seen sun in 2 weeks

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours Mike. Hope y’all have a great one !
All the rain went around us and headed your way. 😢
Hunted all morning. Saw a yearling 4 point and maybe a 2 year old 6 point and a couple of does.
Had a Mexican feast for lunch with fresh tamales, refried beans, tortillas, and grilled fajita meat.
Watching some football now.

Seems like that long. Wet and muddy here.

Made an interesting observation driving the Loop in the fog this morning. The taillights of vehicles were not visible as far away as the vehicles themselves were. Taillights would fade out at about sixty yards, the vehicles about 100.

Headlights of course were the first thing visible in oncoming traffics, from 300 yards out.

Consider yourself lucky. One inch rain equals approx one foot of snow that you would have to move around into piles.

Hey Neal, happy hunting to you.
Birdman, weather people called for fog this a.m.
Loco, after the drought this rain is welcome.
They say we are 10 inches shy of normal.

We are,and I'll take every drop of that precious substance. Its falling right now, music to my ears.Happy Thanksgiving yall,it makes the woods quiet too, something else that's rare around here. Will be still hunting as soon as it subsides.
Posted By: Birdwatcher Re: Soggy Central Tx. - 11/25/22
Even on Thanksgiving, you can still complain about the weather 🙂

Not much of that happening today though.

Yet another front tonight, another grey, cool and wet day tomorrow. Weekend looks OK though.

Yep. We are about 10”s behind on our annual rainfall here too.

We need it but I hate the muddy mess.

Glad to hear some are getting rain. we could sure use some here in OK if you guys can pass it along.
Posted By: viking Re: Soggy Central Tx. - 11/25/22
Yeah no chit, the weather has sucked since I arrived. Maybe one day with some sun.
Posted By: RIO7 Re: Soggy Central Tx. - 11/25/22
It's been drizzling rain for the last 5 days, mud's hub deep to a Ferris wheel.

Just started raining here tonight.

Calling for snow sometime in the early morning.
Posted By: kaywoodie Re: Soggy Central Tx. - 11/25/22
C’mon rain. Tanks are still dry here. Started sprinkling on us good on the Pedernales on our way back from Round Rock.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!!!

We, me and three son's, were booked for our annual bird hunt we do outside Fredericksburg Texas and agreed with the land owner that given the weather forecast for tomorrow we would all pass. We'll try again come Christmas break. Clearly a disappointment but understandable.

Ate Mexican food. Leave for a bird hunt tomorrow...wild birds...
Posted By: kaywoodie Re: Soggy Central Tx. - 11/25/22
Good luck Ed and Jackson with the bird hunts!!!

Sun came out for about 15 minutes this afternoon, clouds are high though maybe forecast are going to be wrong.

The fog where I was was about like a wet grey sweatshirt over your face and the muck & mud is getting old.

I’m driving a rental truck and its trashed

No doubt we need it but how bout not at Thanksgiving time.

Still raining with more on the way today,Gonna have to shop on black friday NOT,gonna find something constructive to do,like do my hunting laundry and get ready to hunt in the swamp when this lovely rain stops.

But doesn't it make the brush country smell great.

2 weeks of rain would be 2 weeks of snow up here. But, we are so dry we would take it.

Be glad ya don't live in Oregon.. we're coming into the time of year, its like you don't see the sun for 6 months...

I live down near the California line... the further north ya go, it just gets worse...more overcast and plenty more rain...

After 3 years up near Seattle when I was in the Army, I got engaged to a gal from Minnesota and we moved there.
My first impression of Minnesota after 3 years in Washington State, "God does the sun shine here a LOT"

that wouldn't even gather most folks attention here in Oregon for the next 4 or 5 months.

No pot holes in the road, that resemble Lake Michigan.. no waterfalls crossing the road, no ditches that look like the Mississippi River, and no sloppy mud, to send you off the side of a 4,000 ft mountain side.

Heck in Oregon, that looks like a Rural Main Thru Road... get up by Potlandia and then up into Washington, it gets a lot worse it it isn't paved..

a Lot of main Forest Service roads are paved out here because of that...

I don’t mind the rain and even enjoy hunting in it myself, but this PNW crap of being overcast and just wet for weeks sucks. That and the gumbo mud on my place that sticks to everything (tires, feet, …) in 3-4” layers… 🤬
Posted By: RIO7 Re: Soggy Central Tx. - 11/25/22
Seafire, That's my driveway, Not a Public Road 3 day's ago, still raining driveway is now 4 wheel drive only, when it drys up we are going to have a lot of road repair to do. Rio7

Pretty sure were going on 8-9 days of overcast, constant drizzle
Posted By: Chisos Re: Soggy Central Tx. - 11/25/22
Maybe the county will call off the burn ban. I have a 2 year old brush pile that needs to go.
Posted By: RIO7 Re: Soggy Central Tx. - 11/25/22
BRISTECD, I've lost track of the day's of rain, I never cuss the rain, but do cuss the mud, the channel 5 weather guesser say's more rain today, it can stop any time, we have enough for now. Rio7

I sit in my box blind.
Straight ahead is a huge wheat field. Southern Oklahoma.
Out the left window, I see the broad expanse of the meandering Red River and over into Texas.
Tuesday afternoon was gorgeous! Sunny, 60° and calm winds.
Haven't seen the sun since. Windy, cloudy, cold, just no rain! That comes tomorrow!
Wheat pastures are a bit slim but these damp, moisture laden days will give them a boost. A little rain and they will be calf deep.
Wish I was a duck hunter! This has been perfect "jump shooting" weather.

We started burning Monday. NRCS Ashe Juniper removal project. We too, hadn’t had an opportunity to burn in well over a year and a half. May burn more today. I think we burned 18 big piles Monday.

We're headed to Comfort this morning. I'm hoping we got enough rain to fill the barn cisterns back up .Lease mate said the deer were moving good earlier in the week.

According to wunderground.com San Antonio has had a total of about 2.4 inches of rain over the last twelve days, delivered at a rate of around 0.2 inches per day.

You Texan's must be gettin' our rain, it's dry here in Iowa.
Posted By: TXRam Re: Soggy Central Tx. - 11/27/22
Well, the sun hath returneth (or something like that…)! It felt so good I worked outside all day. I had a few shrubs and small trees I wanted to remove or transplant elsewhere. One positive of all that dam rain for 2 weeks is that it made that work as easy as it was ever gonna be! Got it all done yesterday!
