I've said it before. Just wait until "they" get cranked up on rifles with telescopes on them. Why, almost anyone could kill a person at a quarter mile they'll say, and in the right hands over 1/2 mile. Then they won't let up. Folks unfamiliar with hunting will get extremely exercised over such weapons being in civilian hands. Your deer rifle in .308W or .30-06 will become a sniper rifle that should only be in the hands of law enforcement or military. It's coming.

There was a recent change to the AP style manual. The purpose of the change was to move away from the sensationalized, undefined term "assault rifle" to more neutral terms.
There were articles about this in progun news sources saying it wouldn't matter because in this instance the media wouldn't follow the AP style manual.

I donāt have a problem with the ālong gunsā term. The MSM might have an end game but long gun is a correct term. Assault weapon wasnāt accurate for a semiautomatic weapon. Long gun also includes fudds Rem 870 and 700. So Iām not sure how effective it will be at turning the masses.
