Need the physiological advantage of having my scent at least covered for x amount of time if they hold up in that cane thinking something might be up before they hit the open hardwoods on the way to cedars.

Because it is the Cumberland river bank and sitting right on top of the Buffalo cane.
I can get on the south side/ inside of the L.
And have 40 to 50 yds of stand off from the cane and see the cedars about 75 yds away and watch the hardwoods bottoms out to 125 150 yards.

All I need is a shooting lane and 3 to 5 secs to get the crosshairs on him.

I seen this buck twice this morning around 0930 after I got up from my 1st spot around 9.

Here was out eating bush hugged new green growth north of the flooded corn fields on the duck hunt club.
About 325 350 yds out.
Went into the flooded corn for awhile.
Then came back out into the field about 45 mins later.

Did a little light poking around for sign.
Converging trails.
Rubs
His fresh track were he came off the wma and went out into the field.
All within 50 to 75 yds of my stand spot tree I put a glow tack on.

Sat down about 400yds short of all this till 9.

I think I could have killed this buck this morning on his way thru from the cedars across the open hardwoods to go chow on grass and standing corn on the duck club

That one rub was made in the last 24 hrs.
Not rain matted shavings, not gooey.
Cambium still soft.
Leaves around starting to dry from morning dew.
Shavings dry.

Converging trail system to the Buffalo cane that emerges out to the duck club.
Heavy used trails does and him.
Seen a spike and 7 or 8 does and fawns at the 1st spot all following the inside woodline of the WMA from this 2nd area.
In addition to the buck seen out in the field at the 2nd spot.
9 or 10 deer seen this morning.
Got out the hand clippers trimmed some schit half moon 20 yds out around the glow tack tree.
Opened up some longer shots in places.
Kinda elevated above the further out ground but the in close schit I trimmed was initially blocking some further out shots.
Kicked down some dead wood in some lanes which opened things too.

About 6 50 am a doe came hauling azz off the duck hunt club field
She crossed the big drainage ditch on one of these trails 20 yds in front of me on the wma and went space ghost into the Buffalo cane
Then the 1st buck came off the woods strip along the Cumberland around 7 am about 250 yds out.
I was praying he was chasing that doe and would pick up her scent.
Didn't happen, went right to the corn.
Other about 745 angled in to about 150yards.
plunge into the corn too.
Soon as they hit that field from the woodline they haul azz like they know open is a danger area.

Big sunsabytches at least 4.5 yrs old
1st was a brown racked deer.
2nd was the blonde racked one I seen yesterday

Got a good look at the blond one on 9 power today.
He is a much bigger 8 than the one I shot on the 8th.

Beginning to think Saturday when duck season opens up again it might drive these bucks onto this wma and my stand area.
I'm coming out here in the morning again if needed

Damn, I wish we had the firearms deer season some of y'all have. Our state Fish and Wildlife agency is run by a bunch of anti-gun Commies. How in the hell they got in charge is beyond me.

We're lucky they give us two weeks of modern firearms hunting. I'm sure it would be even less if they thought they could get away with restricting it more.

That far tree line to the left along the Cumberland is where these bucks are coming out of hauling azz to that corn field on the right and staying in it.
I left today at 1230.
