I have a few. One dress and three work/play. I see more and more trades guys wearing the Damn Near Kilt em work kilts. I have two of them just for work. They beat the heck out of wearing shorts or full pants on hot days or in hot workshops.

While Angus was competing, I decided to get myself a kilt.
Mine is one of those brown duck Utilikilts. Since I'm 1/2 German and 1/256th Scot, I never wanted try to be authentic. For a dagger, I carried a 14 inch Bowie. My sporan is a huge hunting Sporan made from a whitetail skin and the flap made from the rear end/tail. I call it my big fuzzy nutsack, because I keep a pound of peanuts in there and invite cute chicks to dip in grap a handful and shuck them.
Sorry, I don't have a picture, but I'll try and find one.
I'll be honest, in hot weather, a kilt is quite comfortable. It gives you a lot of ventilation. It's somewhat similar to what my Dad grew up wearing in the building trades: lederhosen. They stand away from your skin and ventilate you in the summer. They also protect you against hot surfaces like a roof. All the Germans in this town wore lederhosen in the building trades. My Dad also wore shorts all winter. I still see that a lot now with school kids. It'll be 25 and kids are walking to school in shorts. Yikes.
My nephew got married in one with the family clan tartan plaid. His best man & my brother were also in kilts. They also had socks, flashes & Scottish hats

I hope the guys who have to hold a ladder for you get paid extra
History buffs..........The Hudson bay company and the Northwest company, both fur trading entities hired almost exclusively Scots to head up almost every aspect of the fur trade on this Continent as Chief traders and wintering partners.
I'm distantly of the Campbell Clan. About 20 years ago, my cousin opted to have an authentic Scottish wedding, and I was his Best Man, so we put on full Scottish attire. I liked the kilt in my ancestors' tartan. Learned a lot from the experience. Chicks dig kilts.

Many decades ago I was in a wedding in Scotland, so yes, I wore a kilt for the event. My lady at the time thought I should wear it more often. It was a fun night.

Any fights? LOL
I suppose it wasn't a FULLY authentic Scottish wedding...

You just need to have some Mc's somethings to go with the Campbell's. My best bud's are Campbells, probably because they are the only ones still alive lol, the one is 80 so I need some younger friends it looks like.

My brother does at events like the Highland games held around here annually. He has the whole get up, fox head bag and all. We are descended out of the Duncan clan. I never got onto it that much.
I think Kilts are pretty cool since I’ve always liked the Scottish but I find shorts to be uncomfortable and I almost never wear them even on hot days so I don’t think I’d be comfortable in a skirt.

I usually work in shorts, and sometimes flip-flops.

Flip flops are the most tortuous pieces of footwear ever invented. That’s the standard footwear of hell. Everyone entering hell is issued a pair and mandated to wear flip flops. 😀
Shorts are a product of adapting to our environment and you being from the heat of the SW desert it makes sense. I can’t figure out why, other than they’re fat asses, guys up here wear shorts year ‘round?…..the average temperature here is barely above 55* and it rarely gets “hot”. I can survive in the cold wet coastal environment much easier than I could the SW desert but that’s because I’ve spent my life up here like you down there. 👍🏼 I find that tong in between the big toe on flip flops is worse than having a stone in your boot. 😂
