Boggy was a good man.
He was the best of the best, the cream of the crop. Why'd he have to go instead of some real culls? Life's not fair.
Sad news, crappy time of year.
Not that there is a good time.
Damn. Boggy was one of the great ones on here, and Iām proud to say that he was a friend. I talked to him many times over the phone, and always enjoyed our conversations.
His post always seemed to have a wisdom and a way of looking at things that I treasured.

I regarded James as one of my best friends here at the āFire, met him and his lovely wife here in San Antonio on a couple of occasions.
James was the genuine article, embodied much of what was great about Texas. A sad loss indeed. RIP James, and prayers for your family.
Spoke to his Misses a few minutes ago. She remembered me from our conversations, James was a little hard of hearing, and she often help us in talking about history and our families.
Theyāre doing okay, but itās a tough time.
I told her how much her husbands friendship had meant to me, as well as many of us here.
I know weāre all richer having known him.
If youāre a praying person, please remember them

Sad news. Boggy was one of the originals here, and a good manā¦ā¦
I always enjoyed his posts. He was a kind and gentle soul.
It might have been Boggy that gave me some good advice when I first posted on the place. "This place is like eating chicken wings, you have to know when to spit out the bones."
Nuts. BCR made this place, and I suggest the world as a whole, better.
My loss for never taking the time to meet him.
All the strength and healing to his family.
Sad news T LEE. Thanks for letting us know.

Terry
He was one of the last of the true gentlemen here on 24HR.
RIP, my dad was born and raised just North West of Leona in Jewett.
Spent much time talking to BCR and will miss him greatly!
Doggone Boggy I wish I had tried harder to get down there to see ya..... Boggy was one of the originals here when the site started, along with a few of us old timers now. Always had wise words to say and nary a cross word for anyone... I told him when my daughter and her husband moved to Austin I would get down there to see him while I was visiting but time was just too short and I coudn't make it.. now I wish I had made the time somehow and my kids moved from Austin shortly after...
We had great conversations at times in emails, PMs, and occasionally on the phone.. and he always had some great stories to tell or wisdom to impart... him and Sonny used to be an interesting pair .... wish he had stuck around the fire a little longer so we could talk again.... good night old friend...
Sad news for sure, Terry. BCR was a good man. Prayers for the family.
Terry, hope you're doing ok.
I am sorry to hear this - you and his family have my condolences. BCR must have been at the Campfire from back near the beginning, and was very kind and helpful to me in my early times here.. RIP Boggy.
This is a real drag. Am sorry to hear about this loss to many of you! BCR certainly fit the mold for a salt of the earth Texan!
The world would be a better place with more like him. RIP.
Sorry to hear this tragic news.......my condolences, TLee

Well Jeff and to all my old and newer friends a sincere wish for a Merry Christmas and a Happy new year.
I'm now just starting my fifth year of battling this devil of cancer and so they tell me I'm doing amazingly well, considering.
One thing this stuff does is force you to re-evaluate your dreams and goals, I reckon that is good.
You discover what is really important and what isn't. I've found out things don't matter, people do. Cherish what ever good memories and relationships you have. That's all that really matters in the end so let the rest slide.
They say you are never really gone until no body remembers your name any more. So, friends and neighbors, with a warm and friendly embrace remember me as I do you.
All the best in life to you all.

I can't say enough how much I hate to read this. I truly enjoyed BCR's posts. I remember his struggles to recover after falling out of a tree stand, and later, a struggle with cancer. I regret I never got to shake his hand. Rest in peace, sir.

Its amazing he lasted as long as he did with the type of cancer he had, my mom had the same, and it's not curable they only buy you time my mom made it 7 yrs after being diagnosed, 10yrs is considered really long. Boggy made it 11 so he beat the odds and cancer didn't take him.
Sad news. Too many of the good guys that got me following along at the fire are passing. Thanks for the notice T Lee. He is missed.
The changing of the guard is in progress.
