My wife bought Spiral sliced hams today for 89 cents per lb from our local Aldi here in central MO.
Might be worth checking if you are near an Aldi.
I'm sure that is a top notch ham that contains nothing that doesn't do a body good.

What metric could possibly be applied to food other than cheapness?

Well...I am no spiral fan....but I suppose that 89 cents beats deli ham for 10 bucks!

Go down to the mud hut bring some red cloth.

Trade you for some goat hams.
Aren't you a ray of sunshine.
I'm not a ham connoisseur but thought that some might appreciate a heads up. They had a price of $2.49lb but were moving them to make room.
In August you can come to the MO. State Fair ham auction and can bid on the Grand Champion ham, it may be more to your liking, maybe $100lb or so.

Mexican fella down the road a bit, raises a buncha goats every year. I've been thinking about getting a young one to slaughter. He doesn't have a mud hut though, probably wants greenbacks or something.

Next year I intend to grow even more than the 50 lbs or so of taters I dug up this year. Maybe he likes papas fritas and will trade a kid for a bag of spuds???
Nothing wrong with Aldi ham. They're usually quite good.
Appleton farms shank or butt portion, limit 2.
PSA I know

don't sell hams.......

Last 2 or 3 years we've been buying them at a Ruler store. That's a small town version of a Kroeger grocery for their brands. I don't think the hams freeze worth a hoot, but that's just me. So we don't buy more than we can eat fresh. Otherwise...some damn good eating for the price.

I never see any fiestas there, I think he must ship out the youngsters or sells them to the local goat eaters here. He sure does go through some hay. I know his neighbors who live 100 yards or less from his place, they ain't really happy with him raising all them goats on his little 3 acre place. Legal though, so they can't say much.

At the worse it's cheaper than dog food, and should be healthier, so the pups don't mind if we don't find it palatable. It's worth a gamble, but I agree... anything less than $4 per lb anymore usually means it's only fit for third world types.

Calm down, Mr. Simmons.

You obviously have never eaten in a third World. Aldi products are decent.

#winnersnotlosers
Shanks are $0.99 here...

Did some ham salad with Danny maple syrup/hot relish... right good.

The rest did a white bean soup...

Dogs got the trimmings.
Snagged a 13-pound-plus butt ham for less than $12.

North Dallas suburb of Richardson. No limit on the quantity purchased.

Thanks for the PSA
