Anyone here not know what they are?
Lance[or other brand] crackers.

We were hanging with a couple on Sunday-both originally from Ohio but have lived in Tennessee for 20+ years and neither had any idea what I was talking about when I said "all I've had to eat today is a pack of Nabs"

20+ years and they'd never heard them called this???

Some people don't fully assimilate down here in the dirty south.
I did..
But that damn 7 yr old kid down the street still calls me a damn yankee...
I don't wanna say anything to him.
I.might have fuuuked his granny, aunt, or one of his cousins back in the early 90,s.
Best just to keep the peace and see the little prick in the Montgomery County Jail booking log 10 or so years from now.

Those people probably been living under a rock and have never seen a trailer with blue tarps on the roof held down with used tires either.

Lots of things to experience here in Tennesee.

Yep, that's all you hear in this part of the state.

Ever use them to scoop potted meat out of the can?

Lace brand is the best.

Lots of folks younger than me look at me funny when I call them nabs.

Waiting for the virtue signalers saying they wouldn't defile their bodies with such. Add Nabs to Spam and women with tattoos.

Cream cheese and chives ones are damn good.
Cheese with PB are good but you better have a gallon of water ready.

Eat them all the time. Love me some Toasties and a Ginger Ale. Always called them nabs. Lance brand is the best, but I' thinking the term comes from Nabisco. IDK

Same for me in NC, we call them a pack of crackers.

Buncha slack jaw yokels putting people down over a quaint hardly used slang term for a sandwich cracker that most southerners don't use either?

Yee haw.

Pack of nabs and a Pepsi is considered a 7 course meal in these parts

Back off Turbo!
https://www.foodandwine.com/snacks/...favorite-peanut-butter-sandwich-crackers

" A Nab is a sandwich cracker that is packaged by a commercial company. It's not a peanut butter cracker made at home, and I know some people call the cheese-filled ones "Nabs" in the same way they call every soft drink a "Coke," but not in my house. In 1924, Nabisco introduced a five-cent "peanut sandwich packet," called it a Nab (short for Nabisco) and updated the name to NAB in 1928. What most people call Nabs today are often ToastChee, the signature offering of Charlotte-based Lance Inc. ToastChee made its debut in 1938 and as it caught on—especially with soldiers who trained at Camp Greene—Nabisco opened a bakery right there in Charlotte to meet the demand. Since the two were so similar, fans just called them both Nabs.

Nabisco stopped selling these packets sometime in the late '70s or early '80s, and Lance became the dominant brand, but the name stuck around like peanut butter on your palate. (Nabisco renewed the trademark for the last time in 1988 and canceled it in 2009.) Folks don't generally accuse my state of being progressive, but just like Confederate flags and Sunday blue laws, the word "Nabs" is just one of those obsolete things that some Southerners have refused to give up.

Each package is a single snack, four to six crackers, wrapped in cellophane. Nabs are generally found at convenience stores, gas stations, newsstands, and vending machines and more often than not, that's where you will find Nabs today.

Good they took out some syllables for the Southern folks....that way Ricky Jack doesn't have to waste much time ordering his dinner.
Posted By: Jim_Conrad Re: Nabs - 02/07/23
All kidding aside....I just ate a bacon sandwich with processed cheese on it.

Iceberg lettuce....Walmart roma tomatoes, non organic onion, Best Foods non olive oil mayo and Walmart French bread toasted in some of bacon grease....oh...and I salted the tomatoes.

So I probably just gave myself 18 different types of cancer. So...I got that going for me.

We need to set up a gofundme and send " Turbo" 🥴🤣🤣 a selection of Nabs.
A pallet of em.

Them 2 big Ole dogs he has would love em too.
Perform every command they ever been taught on the 1st time saying it.

For a Nab👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Once you give a dog a Nab.
They know to obey any command the 1st time for another one
Even just a small peice of one.
Dogs can't detect the sound of the wrapper on a package of Nabs being opened from dozens of yards away too.
👍🏻🤘🤣

Got 5 more boxes of accutips today.

If all the bad food and especially Nabs don't get me 1st.
Pretty sure I got enough ammo to kill some antlered things for about the next 8 to 10yrs.
( but I'm still gonna buy more)

All sides of my families are from both sides of the Savannah river. Never heard, "nabs " once.

But always heard, "Coca-Cola and a pack of crackers".

Do ya'll remember when southerners used to pour a few salted peanuts on top in a glass bottle of Coke? It kinda gone now.
Posted By: Jim_Conrad Re: Nabs - 02/07/23
No need to send em.

We have them here.

We call em Tennesee Thanksgiving Crackers.

I can only guess it's short for Nabisco. You southern guys have a way with words. Define what a coke is. With a small c. This could be an extra 3 maybe 4 pages.

Cokes are a generic word for cold drinks, or
what northerners call sew-dahs.
Kinda like saying skilsaw for any brand of circular
saw, etc.
A coke box is a cold drink vending machine.
Ford house and shovelay house are new car
dealerships. Be there drec-lee.
All that said, never used the word nabs in my region

So, instead of Nabs for lunch....

It was Walmart French bread split open.

Buttered and sprinkled with Johnny's garlic parm sprinkle till crispy under broiler.
L
Then cheddar cheese and back in for a while till melted.

Tonino tuna in oil, partially drained...chopped onion and dill pickle BESTFOODS mayo.

Spread over bottom cheese, topped with iceberg and Roma tomatoes.

Tomatoes seasoned with Johnny's season salt.

Kind of a tuna nab I guess.
