Old school vet and he took his time. Took 9 hours.
Spotted our buddy on his way home with an empty pot and he hauled the unlucky bulls to town. They changed the cell towers out there and it's chittier service.
Due to the size of the pastures we have to buy new bulls.
But canners are sky high so that helps.
Yeah. It’s kinda easy to invest when a 600 pound bull brings 2.04 a pound. That’s the second time in the last eightish years they’ve brought that here. I hope it sticks. Lotta damn expense goes along with cows.
I just got a flyer for a May sale. Fall bred heifers. I expect they’ll bring $2500 minimum for nice ones. They are state fund approved so approved producers can get subsidized. Hell, they might bring $2800 and up. Feeders are really high

Early Feb we got 2.10 for a run of 675 pound steers calves.
Wish we still had 'em!
Good 2-3 yr old pairs are crowding $3k here.
sunofabish,
I knew I shoulda bought a cow last year. To raise right here on my 7Acre RANCH! Get the vet to make her preggo, have a little junior, get started on becomin' a Cattle Baron.
Glad I bought that 1/4 beef at the price I did early this year.

We’re testing on Thursday, you have me a little worried now lol, I culled hard in the fall thinking we likely wouldn’t run cows this year for lack of water, then it actually snowed and filled everything up, put 2 bulls down with broken legs and a 3rd went through the ice in the river, one for sure lost the bottom of his sack, some are a little scabbed, hope we have better luck then you guys did testing!

We have a bunch of bulls that froze theirs too. Hope some will test as we didn’t buy enough to replace all. Winter never ends up here. Got 14 inches of snow last week in that storm. Still big banks all over. Going be late seeding.
Same principle, only make them out of cordura and fur or down lined. Hire someone to go around putting them on in the fall and removing them in the spring!

If you guys need some bulls, send me a pm, I can source some good private treaty bulls from some of my purebred clients.
We only have to keep a couple bulls here at home and strawed them up good every cold snap. They look okay but I think we should still have them tested just in case.
Raider7, damn the luck!
Hardway, will you help install the CR bags?!
C, good luck with it up there. I have heard of some horror stories along the Milk River.
