For the fourth time in its 18-year history, Cars.com’s American-Made Index ranks all qualifying vehicles built and bought in the U.S. for 2023 — and what tops the list is clearer than ever to see. For the third year on the trot, Tesla holds firm atop the list; for the second year in a row, its Model Y SUV leads the way; and for the first time, the Texas-based automaker has swept the index, with its entire lineup locking out the top four.

The latest study follows the same basic guidelines of 2020-22 and this year hits 100 vehicles on a list judged through five criteria: assembly location, parts content, engine origin, transmission origin and U.S. manufacturing workforce. Ultimately, Cars.com vetted 388 vehicles to arrive at the 100 that made the index.
Behind Tesla’s quartet lies the Honda Passport SUV, dropping one spot from 2022; a fresh face to the list in the form of the Volkswagen ID.4 all-electric SUV at No. 6; and four vehicles from parent automaker Honda to close out the top 10: the Odyssey minivan and Ridgeline pickup truck at Nos. 7 and 9, respectively, and the MDX and RDX SUVs from Honda’s luxury arm Acura at Nos. 8 and 10, respectively.
Well lookie there folks, ain't that a kick in the pants.

Everyones 1/2 ton and midsize trucks are on the list.

Only got three choices 3/4 ton and up...
wondering why the Camry in Georgetown , KY isn't on the list

I thought at one time it was the most American made car.
Anyone heard from Walt, lately, lol.

Wondering the same thing. Camry at #25? Last I heard, the Georgetown Camry was ~77% approaching 80% U.S. content. Engines machined and built on site from castings poured in Missouri (IIRC). Transmissions built in Buffalo, WV. Interior and seat sets built around the central U.S. Should be even higher percentage once battery production is completed in Georgetown for the EV's.

Also, Corolla at #46? The whole purpose of the Blue Springs Ms plant was to localize Corolla production in the U.S. market. Engines out of the Huntsville, AL power train plant. Drive lines out of Buffalo, WV. Seats and interiors from Mantachie, Ms. Would be curious to see what criteria were used, and how the criteria were evaluated.

Parts supply issues to make more Corollas and Camrys are the issue. None of the Toyota dealers near me have anywhere near what they had prior to Covid. A WAG would be 20-30% .
Tesla model Y or Model 3, passed Toyota Corolla as the most sold car in the world last year. Tesla is selling a lot of electric cars. I am seeing them quite often down south.
Does this include the battery pack?

I had the same question, so I looked it up. Between 70 and 84% of the battery cells and packs are made in the US, depending on the brand and year.

It surprised me it was that high. Might be one of the reasons there’s so many EV’s in the top 10.
