Who was U2's drummer? Exactly.

Neither

U2 still hasn't found what they're looking for because the streets have no name.

Yep. U2 SUCKS. One of the most overrated “bands” EVER.

U2, The police were never interesting to me,

Personal opinions aside, U2 albums out sold the Police by a huge margin.

Well...by that metric...you must be a huge Taylor Swift fan.

It’s weird, I think the Police are more talented, but I like more U2 songs.

LOL, 170 million albums sold, Collective worth of almost 2 billion,

Lets just agree they weren’t your style.

Joshua Tree vs Outlandos D'Amour though?

That's a wobbler for me.

LOL, and Taylor Swift crushed them both, so what.

Edited to add, it's true great minds do think alike.

Neither.

Stewart Copeland is the only musician of note (IMO) to come out of either camp, but he never made The Police tolerable to my ear. I think both groups pretty much just sucked.

It’s weird how many guys here are so knowledgeable on Taylor Swifts accomplishments,

Just sayin.

The Edge and Andy Summers didn't have the flashy licks like so many other bands of the time, but they certainly knew their way around a delay and a chorus pedal. Both were genius level rythm players which doesn't stand out to guitar guys much.

They both were huge influences on a lot of what was to come.

Sting is an exceptional bassist in my opinion.

LOL, if you promised to give me $100K to name one of her songs, I couldn't. Personally think she's vastly overrated, except in making money.

But you'd have to be deaf dumb and blind not to know she's a pop phenomenon.

As determined by the epiphany Africans in arid Africa have difficulty digging wells and bigoted white Europeans should teach them, but only while wearing rose tinted glasses, it’s EeeUuu2 by the cost of airfare to the countries so affected.

I was just about to post the exact same thing.

With or Without You was the perfect track in Blown Away though Roxanne always reminds me of the jail scene in 48 Hrs.

I’m not a fan of either but The Police were more talented IMO. U2 was the more easy listening and the fuller sound of the two.

Exactly.

100%.

And Hig is spot on. Sting was an exceptional bassist. Not in terms of technical chops, but in making lines that are memorable and serve as secondary melody. Further, try this : play a few of the bass lines on any instrument and see if you can sing the vocal track along while you're doing it ... Good luck!

Yeah but Stewart and Andy hated the period when Gordon played the fretless bass.

Yeah, not many guys on the 24HCF gonna get that Paul McCartney is probably the best bassist to walk the planet either!

LOL

HA!

A buddy ran into Tyler over in Hawaii a couple years ago in a bathroom in a nice restaurant. Started chatting him up and Tyler goes into a stall and starts schidting, all while carrying on a convo telling my buddy about his latest country album.

Being famous would suck.

Hey, it's 2023.

We can choose our ethnicity now too I bet.

And those furry folks, they can choose to be a critter instead of a human if they want.

If I was a bit taller I think it would be cool to be a giraffe.

I partied with a bunch of Mexicans when I lived down south and did those partying things. Because I used to speak decent Spanish, could pronounce their names correctly and scheidt, I think they made me an Honorary Mejicano. Then again, we'd do stuff like have a keg of beer and some aquardiente,, mescal, or plain old tequila around and I may have things screwed up a bit. I know they never knifed me, so I think I'm cool.

Can I claim Hispanic now too?
Posted By: bluefish Re: The Police or U2? - 07/01/23
They're brother from another Abuello, perhaps?

As to the OP, I love old Police. Really dug U2 especially the Joshua Tree but never cared for Bono and his wading into politics. I have read that much of the band's music in part reflects their Christian faith.
Posted By: Tminc Re: The Police or U2? - 07/01/23
The Police were before their time, Sting is a musical genius,U2 was great before Bono became a Global Homo, and has gotten worse as time progresses.Early U2 had some energy and some soul, now it's all $@&%$!!!
