I had one built years ago, on a R700 action, but sold it. I shot a few PDs with it. It’s more than needed for PDs. It would make a great coyote round, or medium/short range deer cartridge with the right bullet and shot placement.
Yes...
We built 19 of them about 6-7 years ago... ARs and 700s
My Smith has the reamer if you want to drop ship him a blank.
Drop me a PM if you need profiles/POC etc.
A badass little round that is LEGAL in Virginia.
Yup sure have and do.
First one was a Remington 700, then I got an AR upper and now just have my wife's. It's a left handed mini Mauser that was barreled by McGowan.
She's killed deer and antelope with hers, what would you like to know? I'm no expert but I've played with them over the last 15 years or so
Built an AR in 6x45
85 grain SGK HPS at 2900 fps
Turns coyotes inside out.
I have considered it because it would be VA-legal, but am probably going to buy an upper in 7.62x39 for simplicity's sake
I ended up with two of them. One I had built, a Ruger Mini 14 rebarreled by Accuracy Systems. The other is a mini Mauser I picked up to replace one of those I lost in the PacNor fire.
I built the mini 14 as a calling rifle. Eventually I’ll build something on the mini Mauser.
I have done some limited load development with both. Either would make a good coyote/deer rifle. The mini 14 is a lot of fun to shoot.
Had one in a 788 shot quite a few coyotes with it, cool little round . I sold it to a campfire member.
It's a good round and a friend of mine is building AR's in the 6x45. The 6mm Beggs Russian is good as well. I built a 220 Beggs Russian on a Rem.700 action that's fun to shoot and easy to load.
I had a 6 TCU and 6x47 and now run the 6 TCU successor, the 6mm Mongoose in an 18" AR, barrel is by Mad Dog Weapons Systems. The 6 Mongoose is a 223 shortened .050 and blown out with a 40 degree shoulder, 31 grains H2o capacity, shoots .3" with 80 grain FBSPs over 844, the bulk version of H-335. At 3k the 80 grain does not fully penetrate a yote. But the shortened, blown out case does well with 95-100s in the AR-15 mags.
Yup, built one on a savage action. Sierra 70 gr blitzkings group very small and very seldom exit.
85 gr. sierra soft points for deer.
6x45 ""CALIBER"" LOL,,, .243 - .224??????
I've built 5 on ar15 frames, 4 on savage actions.
Very accurate, hardly any recoil, pal has a 6x45, ar15 I built for him yrs ago for his night rig.
I have a savage build.
Darn things just stack bullets on top of each other no matter the load.
Drop antelope, deer with ease, never had to use a second round. Great for pdogs, coyote, antelope, deer, 55g to 85g.
Farthest goat shot was 345 yards, closest was 30 yards, drop on the spot.
I have a kimber of Oregon 84 predator chambered in 6x45. Haven't shot it, not sure if I will but I have dies if I decide to.
Yup, built one on a savage action. Sierra 70 gr blitzkings group very small and very seldom exit.

85 sierra soft point has been a fine bullet from a 6mm or 243 for myself, a bud and my dad. Dad been using them for over 40 years.
Yes a hart barreled Remington and an ar

Are you guys referencing the 85 gr Sierra Varminter?
Been working with one on a Savage Action, I've been working with. There is a thread on it I started down in the Reloading Section, Varmint Rifles. Got loads I've chronographed posted.
Plan on using this upcoming deer season. Thinking 90 to 105 grain bullets.

YES
I built one on a Sako Vixen action as a short range deer rifle. It has become one of my favorite rifles. Lots of .223 brass that’s formed in one resizing pass, then prime, charge, seat and shoot. Capable, cheap, reliable and no recoil to speak of. What’s not to like?

I'd say those are a tad on the heavy side from my experience. My wife shoots 70 gr nbts and gets great results. Her first buck she shot facing her and the bullet penetrated to the diaphragm, deer ran 15' and piled up. Major damage to the vitals. The was the only animal that she shot with it that didn't drop right there. My daughter will be shooting her first deer this year with that same combo.

Thanks for the clarification, coming from Arkansas that’s rich lol.

This 6 Mongoose sounds like the plan. A mini Creedmoor. I have been considering a 277 Wolverine, but the 6 Mongoose is a serious contender.
What velocities are you getting with 95-100gr?
6x45 ""CALIBER"" LOL,,, .243 - .224??????
I’m always surprised that this one hasn’t caught on.
If you call a magazine a clip people will point it out. If you call a carbine a rifle they will too. But conflate the chamber and the bore and few care.
I’ve had one and it shot very well. I ended up selling the brass barrel and dies because it didn’t do anything for me. I have come to a point that I don’t shoot anything under 4000 ft./s. That’s just where I’m at.

6x45 might be a 6 inch bore 22.5 feet long gun, if on a big gray ship.

Yeah- how hard is it to call a 6x45 a cartridge.
Hey Gunsmith I've got my action/barrel/stock/trigger & bottom metal - I just need to decide what caliber to have you chamber it in. >laf.

16x45 is a little mo' better! (BB-55 through BB-60)

I will have one built on a LH CZ527 action. Should be a great ranch rifle.

A bunch care but you can only point it out so many times before it's easier to just move along.
