Surgery is scheduled for Maine Medical Center in Portland. This hots home for me as I have a daughter the same age.

I've worked in that industry for about 15 years, and scrubbed into many of those type of surgeries...

All surgeries have their risks... but something like replacing the mitral valve... they had that procedure pretty down pat back in the 90s... I left the industry back in 1995, after getting burnt out on dealing with Cardiologists with off the chart egos....

The young man should be fine and will be living a full life if he takes care of himself.

Had a cousin that had that procedure done back in those days, but sadly lost her life, not to that, but a car accident.
Ya know the type.. young bullet proof airhead, the type that play Russian Roulette with their life every time they get behind the wheel.
