While this latest ploy may have pissed off some liberals, Abbott should have CLOSED the border very shortly after Biden opened it, and let the chips fall.

Had Abbott closed the border, he would have had the support he needed to 1) Keep it closed, and 2) Fight the Biden administration.

But he didn't.

Anything other than closing the border is nothing but political smoke and mirrors.

This big deal about this 1000ft barrier is total BS about stopping illegals from crossing the Rio Grande River.There is two International bridges those illegals can cross without getting their feet wet and come in through a port of entry like they are supposed to.But our "Government In Charge" doesn't want that.Why?????

It's too little too late. Millions have crossed with the help of federal agents. Had it been me I'd probably have started another civil war over the invasion by closing every inch of the border and denying federal agents any access to it. If Biden wants to enforce his madness with federal troupes it could turn out badly because those troupes quartered in this state are beholding to the state for food, water and electricity. As far as I know it's never been tried before and never been contested other than with judicial action. Democrats are fine with defying judicial authority when it suits them so why not just do it and see where the chips fall.

It seems like Governor Abbott is the only one trying to secure our border. No Senator or Congressmen or women is doing anything to secure it. Even the President or Vice President are doing nothing. I'm glad Abbott is here.

None of them are keeping illegals from entering. That includes Abbott.

Abbott is not the beacon of conservatism people seem to think he is. He is a political windsock, and follows whichever direction the political wind blows him.

That’s the point. They mostly are here “legally” now. They are being processed mostly in Mexico, escorted to the border, handed over to the BP, papers checked, cell phones and funds issued, and being released into the US usually with a bus or plane ride where they want to go.

Very few are actually swimming the river and dodging the BP these days.

Only explanation is that both parties are importing as many people as possible to try to counter the baby boomer population crash. Businesses are desperate for workers, so both parties are conspiring to stave off the crash.

My neighborhood is filled up with them, particularly the eastern, northeastern, and southern parts of it. Dozens and dozens of houses occupied by wetbacks, i.e., Mestizos who either speak Spanish mostly or exclusively. Mostly, they occupy the many trailer homes scattered about, but some regular houses, too.

When I first moved here, there were zero. Then one trailer home got occupied by a bunch of them a few properties to the east, which the neighborhood quickly started calling the Mexican part of the neighborhood (constant Mariachi music blaring, day and night). It quickly picked up from there, and now about one third of the properties to the east, northeast, and south of me are occupied by them. Most of them don't speak a lick of English.
