Excuse for being an air head. This world has had people missing plans, late for work, lose track of time as long as this world has been around. They just came up a name and excuse for it.

Back in the day (see what I did there-time travel) we used to call these people [bleep] ups!

Anymore, I hate being late, just because I hate having to hurry (I suspect that’s a condition a lot of guys start to develop as they get older).

Stuff like a career and even hobby time does start to matter more as I get older.

Admittedly, when I was younger, I really didn’t GAF. I’d stay up late, sleep in, whatever.

Don’t do it anymore though. Not sure if it’s because I developed a work ethic or if I just hate running my ass off to be 10 minutes late.

Whether it’s making a flight for work, or trying to beat daylight up a tree stand.

We still call them that……

JFC, I've been married for over 40 years.

Every time we're getting ready to go somewhere, running late as usual, and I hear "Just a few more minutes! All I have to do is brush my teeth..." I know I have time to mow the yard, clean the gutters, and deadhead the irises.

It ain't just the gen-xers. It might happen to be gender-specific.

Being where you're supposed to be, when you're supposed to be there, seems like a basic courtesy to me, but I'm an old guy, so what do I know about courtesy.

Gawd forbid showing up 5 to 10 mins early to be on time...

Fuuka,s are glued to social media like bugged eyed aliens with big thumbs is what the basic problem is.
Add in being enabled and undeserved praise their entire lives.
They excell at being mediocre at best and barely at that...

Worked at a big sporting goods store in the early 90s. Opened at 0800. About half the crew opened and the other half came in at 0900. One female was always rolling in at 0810-0815. Always citing child care issues. They changed her to the 0900 crew. She always showed up at 0910-0915 citing child care issues.

It’s not a new phenomenon.

As mart said, nothing new. I had an employee back in the 80's that was consistently late. She always said "traffic". I always said "leave earlier".
