Why would anyone get married twice? Once and jeopardy has attached in my world.

Be 53 years for us this coming January.

It will be 50 years next spring with my wife. Actually, 51, since we lived together for a year before getting married.

Hanco: Ole270 beat me by a bit - 47 years for me - BUT.... we lived in sin/together for 4 years prior to our marriage - does that count for anything?
One of the secrets to a long and happy life (this is my observation/opinion - but I am sure of it!) is having a loving spouse to go through life with.

Me and my first wife.. we were married for a thousand years.... but we crammed it all into just 8....
My whole life.
53 years in another month. Same one.

Longer than a first degree murder sentence.
There was a young man that had been dating a young lady for a few years.
His Mom and aunts were all hounding him to get married.
they gave him all kinds of reasons to get married.
One of them even quoted a statistic that married men live longer.
Finally, he went to his grandpa for advice just as he had done all of his life.
He asked "Grandpa, do married men really live longer."
Grandpa sat in silence for what seemed like an eternity.
Finally, Grandpa answered, "No, it just seems longer."

My wife and I have been married a little over 39 years, btw.
27 here and looking forward to the next 27.
26 closing in on 27.
I waited until I'd be the 53rd reply to say we've been married for 53 years.
I lost my 1st wire to cancer and remarried. Added together, I've had 48 years of marriage. If my 1st wife hadn't passed away, we would have had our 50th this summer.
The Lord has blessed me with 2 really good ones.
37 years last month and I will be 55 in November

I know my wife married the longest...
51 years as of this past July.
The real question is, how long does it seem?

Years back we were in church on a day there was a visiting preacher, one of the outgoing sorts. He walked around asking couples how long they’d been married. I told him, “About 150 years”. About 100 years later, that wife flew the coop.

In-laws went past 75 yrs, raised 4 kids, had a good life. They’ve passed on to their rewards.

He was on the Belleau Wood, an aircraft carrier hit by a Kamikaze in the Pacific War. They saved the ship.

The greatest generation. Good folks. Hard working. Not much education. He died a millionaire.

Raised two school teachers; I married one. Two boys are computer scientists, one in Orlando with Disney, the other with Boeing Military. Disney BIL retired before the Mouse went full out woke crazy. He ain’t woke, glad to be out.

Really?….that’s cool. It’s also the second one I’ve heard of in 24 hours. My brother’s high school buddy and his wife divorced and within a year they were back together….I think that should be a sign to hold onto that one.

Wishing you and wife #1.2 all the best.

😂 not much! We were divorced about 9 months, divorced in December remarried in September on what would have been our 26 anniversary. So technically I can say we’ve been married every September 9th since 1995.
33 years here on the Lake,,,,,about 45 moose,50 brown bears,,70 or so wolves,150 wolverine,and a couple hundred lynx,,,,,,
24 Years
I haven't been married the longest... but I was married way more than long enough to my first wife...

I'm sure I'm not the only one on here that has done that...
Coming up on 53 and it's gone fast. Better today than when we married.
55 and counting
We had 25 wonderful years together, then menopause "came to town"

Been married 38 years now. (GRIN!)

One marriage or total years married! I’m 70 and have been married a total of 53 years…..maybe a bit more! 😉 memtb
It has been a somewhat strange surprise when at a wedding reception or other such event where the MC asks all of the married couples to start dancing and then progressively eliminates couples according to number of years married.

The last few such occasions have left M and I dancing alone.
I often say when asked: feels like or actual? 28 actual, feels like varies based on the other half's mood that day.
Fifty-one years this past Aug 15.
