Kind of surprised that would do it.

I ain’t heard that used in years! grin
“That boy could break an anvil with a rubber mallet!”
Prolly, a lot of these younger whipper snappers ever heard it.
Broke it shooting at it?
With what?
To bust an anvil it takes something with a lanyard, not a trigger!

High enough to knock the horn off when it landed.

The South Africans were there....

My paternal Grandfather broke his while playing "shoot the anvil".
Split it horizontally, though. He and his coal miner buddies took it to the mine shop in Dawson, bored holes through the top and bottom halves, and strapped it together with 1/2" X 2" strap metal, and 3/4" bolts.
My brother has it in his shop up at Maxwell, and we still use it.Still rings well, too!

Some of my wife's family used to do this with dynamite. That damned thing has to land somewhere, right?

Posted By: mark shubert Re: Something's missing - 10/18/23
Those old miners used whatever charges they used at work - I'm not sure exactly what.
Don't know about the hang time - as it was well before MY time! laugh laugh laugh
