I was doing some work on two Asus Win 10 laptops yesterday. When I got done, CTV was once again taking up the right column on each.

Reinstalled adblock plus on both machines. And blocked each element of CTV. Then I discovered, I can permanently remove the entire right column from the page and run script from edge to edge.

It makes for.a.better read of the 'Fire.

Do any adblocks work with Brave?
Posted By: RockyRaab Re: Ad block plus, hooray! - 10/26/23
I use uBlock Origin with Brave, and think it's better than the other ad blockers.

As I posted before, there's a war going on between YouTube and ad blockers. So far, Brave has been able to keep up or ahead of them. I get a warning from YT that blockers are not allowed. After a day or so, Brave will come out with an update that blocks the warning and ads. Then YT figures out how to show them again. And the cycle continues.

uBlock Origin is belt and suspenders protection when used with Brave.
How did you get rid of it? Its distracting and annoying running on the side. I have Adblock Plus but it doesn't stop CTV.

This is for uBlock Origin but I think AB+ is similar.

It's easiest with a mouse and a big screen. Move the cursor to one of the corners of the ad. You have to hit a very tiny spot, almost a single pixel (they make it hard for you deliberately). Once you hit that pixel, right click and you should get a drop down list. Click on something like "Block this element". There might be one other thing to verify. Do so. Done.

If you're trying to do this on a phone with fat fingers...rotsa ruck.

I just installed Ad Block +. I still have CTV on the right side of my screen.

I have had Adblock Plus for years and I am not seeing any issues with YouTube and do not see CTV and do see a full width screen.

I figured out the easy way to block CTV with ad block plus. Open Ad block plus and it has a big blue box near the bottom that says "Block Element". Just click the blue box then click CTV and it will be gone.

They offered a couple chances to contribute. Easy to dismiss.

Find the AdBlock tool box. Click on "Block Element" Then click on CTV. With my version of Firefox, access Adblock through a little jigsaw puzzle piece in the very top right corner of the browser.

I found three separate elements in the CTV window and had to repeat the process for each element. Then the whole right column was another element.

Neither is an issue on any one of my three computers. Two laptops with Win 10 and Firefox. One desktop w/ Win 11 and Firefox.
YouTube wants $14.00 a month to view ad free.

If you use uBlock Origin try adding these to the "My Filters" section under Extension Options...

It plays well on my laptop.

I'm using uBlock Origin and Ghostery.

uBlock Origin was able to get rid of Carbon TV :
1) Move cursor to edge of CTV video viewer
2) Right click
3) Choose "Block Element"
4) CTV goes "pink" and a drop down opens
5) Hit the "Create" button in the drop down
6) CTV is now gone (for now)

Ghostery is another free adblocker
Ghostery has adapted to the Youtube gamesmanship that has just started as we've all seen.
Ghostery will pop open in a window and offer to run Youtube in a "Private Window".
This seems to be able to circumvent Youtube's money-grabbing campaign (for now).

It's a cat and mouse game, gents.
An arms race, LOL.

I use Brave and Firefox. Brave has a built in adblocker which seems to work well. On Firefox I'm using Ublock Origin and Privacy Badger. I'm no fan of Google and keep signed out of my account 99% of the time. If you're signed in they are gathering data on you constantly on that browser. If you are signed out of Google account in YouTube you can't use any of the features to go to fav sites like subscribe. You have to bookmark the accounts main pages and then look for new content under videos, etc. Since you are anonymous when signed out of Google account you seem to be able to go about your business. Although, I suspect that Google will soon put an end to this by requiring you to sign in to use the site. In that case I will just quit using Youtube altogether.
