Why is diesel so much more expensive than gas, usually it was about 10 or 15 cents more. [bleep] like $2.00 more these days.thoughts?
Diesel is also heating oil, and it's winter.
And the rule is: "All the market can stand plus 10%".
Cheapest around here is $4.64/gal diesel. Filled up yesterday, more snow coming! Well- guage says full anyway - I stopped it at $100.21 before it kicked off on it's own.
Guage said I was just below the half-mark, but it lies - I was more like 2/3 empty.
I think most of it is gov't regulation. Low sulphur takes more refining.
Can remember when gasoline was .199/gal. Diesel was .109/gal. (1950's)
At that time, only farm tractors, semi's and heavy construction equipment ran on diesel.
Diesel comes out of the refining process first.
Earlier this week, diesel was up to 4.799/gal on some places. Today it's back to 3.999/gal.
It's always 20 to 50 cents cheaper just across the river in Texas.
