I like Vai, seen him twice and met him once after a show. That song you posted does nothing for me. He busted that guitar out at the last show. Joker knows his way around a guitar for sure, just doesn't have that groove or bluesy feel Satch has in my opinion. Passion and Warfare is an incredible album.

Never cared for Steve Vai.

Great technician.

There's a million guitarists I'd rather listen to.

Appreciate his ability and some of his work. In particular, "For The Love Of God"
is fantastic.

He is more soulful and better to me than some non-stop shredders. I still prefer the likes of Jeff Beck any day of the week.

How can you not like Jack Butler?

Like MacAlpine better.

Like most of Vai’s stuff, this one is a snooze.

Who? Seriously. Never heard of him. Solo artist or what group he plays with?

Solo act with a backing band really. Was a big up and comer until he entered a contest and got his arse handed to him by Eugene Martone. Kinda went to the woodshed, got spanked and disappeared. He used to disappoint a lot of up and coming boys. Now - nothing.

These guys:

This guy cuts ping pong balls up, glues the pieces onto the thumb, index finger, middle finger, and ring finger of his right hand, then shapes them into picks. He writes some good instrumentals, also. I doubt that he can do anything except play guitar. It's obviously all he's ever done in his life.

😆

The ONLY thing that makes that tune interesting is the gay ass dragon guitar with three necks.

He’s a novelty act and somewhat of a joke.

He ain’t got nothing on CiCi DeVille.

I agree with that, with the exception that I have no idea who CiCi DeVille is.

IIRC - CiCi went to Juliard.

The hilarity meter is pegged at “11”!

Keep going!

He did mentor Joe Satriani, that's got to be worth something.
Posted By: NVhntr Re: Steve Vai - 11/30/23
Makes sense, I don't care for Joe either.

Guitar nerd Antoine Dufour doing "Drac & Friends",....something a bit different.

Saw him with Satrinia, Eric somebody at a guitar hero concert. I spelled Joes name wrong

There's no denying the dude has talent. But whatever reason, I'm just not feelin' it when I listen to him. Seems machine like to my ear, but everyone's different.

Young boy hanging out with his Dad and doing a little picking in the back yard. He stays on the road all over Europe and America playing for sold out crowds these days. Back when this was recorded he just picked and sang because he liked to.

Posted By: Bristoe Re: Steve Vai - 12/01/23
He played the Opry here while back with a good four piece band. They're all very talented. Watch 'till the guitar solo towards the end. It's special.
