The earliest recollection I have of Hank was back in the mid 1960's. I would've been 5 or 6 years old. My dad would sing along to Hank's songs when they came on the radio. There was always an AM radio in the farm shop and barn playing the country oldies.

My dad passed in February 2022. A fond memory of my dad was him singing Hank's songs.

I would respectfully disagree, especially when taken in the context of their times. Old Hank was instrumental in laying the foundation for an entire genre in which many (including his son) found success by jumping on board. Jr was alright, but artistically not the equal of his father or even outstanding among his contemporaries.

Had lunch a few years ago in a little diner outside of Oak Hill Wva . Same diner Hank was found dead in the back seat of his car by his driver en route to a show. Diner food wasn't memorable, beer and a couple hot dogs. Cool stop none the less.

Hank was the best of the pure country western singers.............period.

Lovesick Blues by Hank was #1 for 16 weeks on Billboard's country music charts. In his biography it was said that when Hank would play Lovesick Blues at the Louisiana Hayride the women would throw their panties up on the stage when he'd yodel.

When the song writer's hall of fame was created, by song writers themselves, one of the first inductees was Hank Sr. Now it is rare in song writing that a song is written about a song writer that then goes gold or platinum, this is one of those rare events.

Fathers and sons...

Sr- A guy with talent but also a lot of physical pain. Flees his pain in booze and pills

Jr- A guy with talent seeks the image of his legendary father in booze and drugs

III- I never had the interest, or the stomach to look

He and the late, great Carter Stanley are the two greatest country/bluegrass singers in my book. They could both tear your heart out when they sang.

Alan jackson's Midnight in Montgomery is a very fitting tribute to Hank.

I've been there a couple of times. Its on old US 19.

The Lilly Family reunion is real close by in Flat Top WVa, one of the largest held in the USA or in North America almost every year. When I've attended, I always take the trip down to Bluefield on old US 19, instead of using I 77. Nostalgia for the ways the old roads were, when I was born there in 1952.

I stop at that restaurant and get a bite to eat. Their is a real small bridge there also named the Hank Williams Memorial Bridge. Its just over a small creek, not much too it.

His body was taken to the Hospital in Beckley, where he was pronounced dead.
