I'll need to find all the ranges, LGSs and cool spots...
Are there any left in that part of the State ??

kwg
Well, I'm pretty familiar with that part of the state. From Elkader, Elgin, West Union etc, etc....

Don't know of any cool spots though....

Pretty country though.
I know there's at least one LGS in Elkader. Saw it yesterday while I was coming out of the realty office.
I've been fishing the general area for 15 years, but never really spent much time checking the towns out

Gotta be some places...
As far as I'm concerned, the fishing and hunting is the attraction. The towns are decent and the people are fairly friendly.

It really is nice country. I worked for a company in that area for 34 years and always enjoyed it when I had to go to the home office there.
I'm a member at the Tri-county Sportsmans club in New Vienna, IA. Also close to Holy Cross.
They have a very nice 300 yd rifle range and a great trap range
Cool...
Been through Holy Cross many times

Was usually headed up to the Yellow or Upper Iowa river areas
Beginning the process of buying a house and I'll be doing a lot more local exploring
The turkey river at Elkader looks fishy as can be...

Been seeing a gal for a few weeks now. She lives 80 miles away, towards Chicago
The house I'm buying is 150 miles in the other direction. Told her about it over dinner yesterday

Things got a little quiet...
Elkader has a dumpy 9 hole course - don't recall if they have a range.

Cool spots, be sure to check out the packing plant in Postville. Wave to the friend Hasidics and the foreign labor they bring in.

Yeah... the listing agent came in his fishing clothes

We talked about bird numbers. Some pheasant around Elkader. Good bird hunting starts a half hour west.
I can live with that
Guy had a pretty decent buck on the wall behind him, and a couple of boxes of CCI maxi mag on his desk

And there's a cool Irish pub with decent food close by

I'd sure like to test that "fishy" part. I hear the small mouth bass are plentiful on the Turkey.

likely 8-12 weeks and I'll be finding out

Come on over, first beer at Fennelly's is on me
