Hello all,
I have such an enlarged Prostate that I can’t get more than about an hour and 15 minutes sleep at a time at night. My prostrate is encroaching on my bladder thus reducing the volume it holds. I’m taking .4 mg Tamsulosen 2x a day and Finasterude once a day. My Urologist says they are “ throwing the book at me”. I tried some Saw Palmetto but ran out before I could tell for certain there were any benefits. I’m sure at least some of my friends here have been where I am. Have you found a natural treatment/remedy which works? I would love to have a normal nights’ sleep.
Thanks for any help you can offer,
Rick
Go get a biopsy as I went through this 7 years back. Prostate cancer and 44 days of radiation and I'm still kicking. After the rad I s hit my pants for about 3 months as it undoubtedly worked on my colon but that all went away. At 84...I just think about what it was like at 40! crazy eek
I lost 25# and feel much better. No doctors.
My PSA was 1.3 a couple of weeks ago. No indication of any cancer. I have put in weight the last couple of years. You may be into something there.
Thanks, and keep um coming,
Rick
Not natural, but there is a procedure where they microwave the prostate. I forget the medical name for it. Not fun, but better than surgery. Mine was done in the doctors' office.

I don’t have a natural remedy. Rappaflo and Calais once daily is getting me 6 hours straight of sleep instead of getting up six times during the night.
Cialis 5 mg a day here makes a difference
Stay away from any antihistamines they are proven to cause enlarged prostate issues. Just type in antihistamine and prostate and you will be kinda shocked.

Yep, happened to my father on a cruise.
I use a combination of three items

The most important item can be purchased off Amazon; it is “NOW Clinical Strength Prostate Health” - contains Vitamin D-3, Zinc, Selenium, Saw Palmetto Extract, Photosterois, Stinging Nettle, Quercelin, …

Second most important - tamsulosin - daily, or at least pretty regularly.

I occasionally take Cialis 5mg - one pill every ten days or so.

If I am off these meds and have flushed them out of my system, I will get up 5 or 6 times a night. Whereas I will sleep all through the night when I have been taking these meds for a few days.

I am age 64.5; I have had prostate problems since I was age 27; had a weak urine stream these 37 years; my prostate is enlarged; my PSA has been in the 7 range for at least 10 years; I have had a prostate biopsy which was negative. This combination I am now taking is the first effective solution I have ever found.
This works. https://prlabs.com/men-s-performance-edge.html

Was on Tamsulosin, but I didn't like the side effects - pinpoint pupils/night blindness and a terribly runny nose.

Cooled thermotherapy. Stick a treatment catheter into your prostate, a thermometer probe up your bung to monitor temperature, microwave prostate for 28.5 minutes in the office under sedation. Very warm, uncomfortable. About like a root canal. Not fun, but not terrible. Have to wear a catheter and urine bag for a couple of weeks. Tissue sloughs off. Urologist said 80% of patients get about 80% improvement, and it's worked for me for about 15 years. Told me there would be no sexual side effects. BS! Ejaculated blood for awhile, so that is a buzz killer. Peeing isn't a big deal until you can't, then the priority goes way up.

There are various prostate treatments. Depends on the urologist's preference. TURP, rotorooter, is traditional.

I had a simple prostatectomy, fixed that cshit, can go 5 to 6 hours without having to pee, sleep all night.

Couple friends have had Turp procedure, helped them.
some Granny Clampett mountain remedy here... try some Reeds Extra Ginger Brew, or make some tea with fresh ginger...

Yep. Doctor said he would just give me a little anesthetic, but I could talk to him during the procedure. When I woke up, I asked him about it. He said he had to give me more so I would not frighten al the patients in the waiting room.
I've regrown my hair since I got on Finasteride a year ago. My hair line is just about back to normal.

OK, skip the snake oil and invasive procedures. There is a procedure called Prostatic Artery Embolization (PAE). It is non invasive and you are not put under. Dr. Ari Isaacson helped it get approved by the FDA. Insurance will cover it too.

A lot of doctors (radiologists) have started using the procedure, but make sure they are experienced. Dr. Isaacson is in N.C and I wouldn’t hesitate to drive there or fly in from TN. He is near the Raleigh NC airport and gets patients from all over the place including overseas. He has easily done well over a thousand procedures.

Look him up and look up the procedure. If you are a candidate this is the way to go. Procedure takes about an hour or two depending on your circumstance. You lay on your back and watch the screen. You leave without a catheter! A few days of some prescription pills and you are good to go. No recovery period to speak of and no cutting. The hardest pert is laying on your back for an hour after its done.

Research it.

I used to have to pee up to four times a nite. Started taking B complex for an unrelated issue. Most nites I don't have to get up at all. If I do it is just once. Just shy of 69.
"Enlarged Prostrate Treatment". Hell, I thought this was about longer naps: which, by the way, I can take because my TURP fixed my 'gotta piss every 20 minutes' problem.
RB
I know it sounds silly but get checked for sleep apnea

PPP (please post pics) if you grow boobs...
I had a HOLeP a week ago, no pain afterwards (other than burning pee) very little bleeding. I had been in full retention for over a year, having to self catheter five times a day. I’m 72, and had prostate issues since I was in my 30’s.

The tissue came back negative for cancer. I was very hesitant but it’s worked out so far.
When my PSA numbers went up I started taking saw palmetto without saying anything to my doctor. Next appointment my numbers were down and I was sleeping and peeing better. When I told him I was taking it he was kinda pissed, not because I was taking it but because I didn't mention it to him. He said "it will lower your numbers" and he needs to know what I'm talking. All that to say it's working for me.
You might find this hard to believe, but I saw a infomercial for this product called Ideal Prostrate. Honestly, it has worked for me really good. I was having problems nor they're much improved.
Just reading this thread makes me want to go pee.

Get a new urologist this guy is an idiot. Your prostate will never encroach on your bladder and does not reduce the amount it will hold.

Run to a new urologist. Now.

While true it won’t reduce the volume of the bladder, a large median lobe of the prostate can encroach the bladder. It acts as a ball valve. You can try drugs, but they don’t work well for that particular issue.

Where do you guys get this sh it from ? Ball valve ?????
The Prostate is a horse collar shaped sphincter muscle The urethra travels from the bladder through the "neckhole" of the horse collar to the tip of your dick. That sphincter opens to unpinch the urethra to drain your bladder. And closed to pinch the urethra shutting the flow from your bladder off. When the Prostate becomes enlarged, it can't open fully, so the bladder doesn't fully empty, meaning a shorter period of time before full again thus up more times to piss at night.
You need to shrink the Prostate and/or enlarge the urethra. Personally I don't do drugs. So its either nutraceuticals or surgery. (Roto router or a stent,/bladder system)

LOL, the prostate is not a sphincter muscle. If it was, it wouldn't be nearly as susceptible to cancer.

The prostate is both a gland and a muscle below the bladder and in front of the rectum in men and people assigned male at birth (AMAB). It consists of connective tissues and glandular tissues. It adds fluid to semen, and its muscles help push semen through your urethra.
There are over 50 distinct types of sphincters in the human body, some of which function involuntarily, some respond to stimuli, and others are controlled voluntarily …

Guess the sphincter in your head is a little too tight.
Just keep in mind Finasteride will take at least 6 months to have any affect on the prostrate and some have to take it closer to a year for it to have any improvement.
PAE and thank me later.
Take Super Beta Prostate regularly and fire cannon often.

Mine described as massive, kissing lateral lobes, a median lobe protruding into bladder....

Could not be addressed with TURPS or EUROLIFT, and meds were not keeping up.

PM me if you need more...

LOL, "assigned male at birth (AMAB)." You either wrote that off the top of your head or did a Google cut and paste. It's hard to say which is more pathetic.

And let me repeat, no one defines the prostate as "a sphincter muscle." That's like saying "the heart is a valve." The heart has valves but that doesn't make it a valve.

I can draw a picture if that helps.
Things to avoid if you have BPH...
1. Pseudoephedrine
2. antihistamines
3. coffee + other caffeines (morning is OK, but not after noon if you want to sleep)

oops, I have to head to work. I'll add more info later
