Fire member Otter6 passed away yesterday. Better known as Ed Ott major league baseball catcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates and other teams. RIP
RIP Ed.
Never knew he coached for the Tigers.
Godspeed.
Rest in Peace Mr. Ott.
Condolences to your family and may God be with your loved ones in this trying time.
I was a kid when Ott was playing for my favorite team, the Pirates. I remember him pretty well as a tough/blue collar type of player. He fit in pretty well in Pittsburgh. He won a World Series with the 79 Pirates. Thanks for the memories, Ed. Rest In Peace.
Did not know the Otter here was the Ed Ott we watched play for the Pirates - saw him quite a few times against the Phillies and well remember his team's 1979 run and World Series win. Although usually platooned, he contributed much that season and had a very strong series. RIP Mr. Ott.
CCCC -
Might I be the 'Otter' you are thinking of, maybe?
Ed Ott was about the same age as me (actually about 6 months older). Never met him but knew he was a ball player. My lineage traces back to PA so Ed may well have been shirt tail relation. Sorry to hear of his passing. Condolences to his wife and the rest of his family and friends.
RIP 'cuz'.
Yes indeed, RIP. I think he was a professional wrestler in the off season.
May God hold Ott and his family in the palm of His hand.
