Not about copper and lead, but it could be taken that way.
Refers to songs moving up the charts.

Bingo!

Leanord Skinner was the high school principal for the VanZandt boys. They didn’t hit it off too well, so they named their band after him as a final FU.

Several years later he graciously posed for pics with them.

This thread just proves that slight misspelling doesn’t really matter. You can grossly misspell about 50% and typically still be effective. Kinda odd.mit must mean we are super smart as a species.

I can't git on board. Mr. Sat. night special was anti gun IMO. And some others, preaching or condescending. Saying Simple Man, slow down don't move to fast, forget your lust for the rich mans gold, and the dying trying to break a record for the most appearances in the least number of days seems so ironic.

But,,,, telling Neil Young to Fugg off was enjoyable & the guitar duo's, trios' in "That Smell" are the fugging bomb for sure.

The picture on the front of that albumn was taken in Jonesboro Georgia in front of the old railroad station. Jonesboro was the where the mythical town of Tara in gone with the wind was supposed to be. It’s also where a lot of Smoky and the Bandit was filmed. The place was a nice quiet rural town…then the Olympics came to Atlanta in 96 and all the projects were torn down in Atlanta and it’s residents were moved to that area. It’s now a ghetto [bleep]. Just a quick history lesson. I retired from there as a Paramedic. Mogadishu of Georgia

most of the lads went to Robert E. Lee high school in Jacksonville. The principal was Mr. Pomfrey at the time. The kids called him 'powder blue'. Skinner was a gym teacher and if I recall, got the lads suspended for hair length or something like that.

What exactly would you call it?

"Mister Saturday Night Special
Got a barrel that's blue and cold
That ain't good for nothin'
But puttin' men six feet in a hole
Oh, that's the Saturday Night Special
For 20 dollars, you can buy yourself one too
Here it comes
Oh, lemme tell you all about it
Hand guns are made for killin'
They ain't no good for nothin' else
And if you like to drink your whiskey
You might even shoot yourself
So why don't we dump 'em, people
To the bottom of the sea
Before some old fool come around here
Wanna shoot either you or me?"

Anti gunners…. Not just the song, many interviews with Ronnie and Artimus Pyle the Vegan whining about it….. also Jimmy Carter supporters…. They could play, but don’t mean they were not dip chits.

Was cruising through the channels the other night and there they were, a Nashville concert from, I believe, 2022. On PBS for one of their fundraisers. They said they loved them some PBS, so I wondered what kind of guys they really are.

Agree though, great music.

The Netflix show on LS laid it out pretty clear. Ronnie hated guns, same with Artemus. Hell of a band though…

They weren't my favorite 70's band, but they sure did some classic songs.

Jonesboro is where Tara was located in the movie, but much of the storyline is based on the true evens of Barnsley Gardens. It was a Civil War era plantation and mansion located between Adairsville and Kingston. The ruins are still there and the property is now a high end resort and golf course. There was a minor skirmish there during Sherman's march to the sea.

The place is literally in the middle of nowhere. Lots of locals don't even know it's there.

Maybe symbolic for Ed’s time and departure from the band.

Unrelated, met Ed King in a cigar shop off in Green Hills outside of Nashville. Had no idea and talked to him for 10 mins as we watched some March Madness. lol

Artimus ran to a farmhouse, looking like hell, got shot at by farmer, reported crash and took first responders to scene.

Rode by it hundreds of times while living up that way below Summerville. Cousin leased the hunting rights there for years until they figured out a way to turn it into a resort.
