Being an election year and expecting my 401 to crash as it does every election year. Should one get out in August or October?

I got lucky in 2020 and got out early. Then got back in around 2022.

I am inclined to bail soon but it's doing well right now.

You need a new money manager

Things are no longer predictable.

I would say the rates are going to drop a few more times before the election and those that want to keep comatose Joe in office will prop the market up as long as they can.

It's the only thing they may have to run on.

I suggest when the next Bitcoin crash happens that you invest every spare dollar into it.

Any penalty if you bail?

You are historically inaccurate about equities in an election year.

The great Ab Lincoln said that "time in the market out performs timing the market" wink

Correct, the market has gone up in all but four of the last twenty election years.

I would just put the funds in the money marker section.

Unless you’re going to need it soon, let it ride…

So let me get this straight…

You divest when the market is down, or when you perceive it is about to drop, and then you start investing again after it’s going back up?

You need a fiduciary in your life.

The way the inflation, wage and labor data keeps coming in, you might just have to wait quite a while before the Fed starts dropping rates.

I’m staying fully invested, as I’ve done for 30 plus years.
