Breaking - Ship issued a Mayday due to power outage prior to crash, allowing DOT to close bridge B4 collision.

How many lives did that save?

The crew working on the bridge was still there correct?
If they had time to close the bridge, did no one think to tell them to get off the bridge?
I wonder how much time they really had to do anything.
They may have ordered the bridge closed but I suspect the collision happened before they were actually able to do anything.
