Watched this on Netflix last night and would recommend it highly.
150 Irish soldiers on a UN peace keeping mission in the Congo against French mercenaries and thousands of local natives. Based on a true story.
Reminded me a bit of ZULU.

Yep good movie. It’s been out for awhile, but hey better late than never.

They got the short end of the deal.

I am kinda on the other side of that one.

I am sure it's a good movie however.

Haha!

Yeah...I like the Irish fine.

I don't like the UN. Especially when they were helping communists.

I get that and had the same thought Jim. I focused on the story of brave men in battle and less on the politics.
Basically the UN lost this one so you might enjoy it.

Good movie!

I despise the UN as well, but I don't hold that against those men!

Is there a movie about Mad Mike, 5 Commando and the Battle of Stanleyville?

Yep, good stuff. I just recently watched this one as well. Also just watched The Lost Battalion on Prime Video, equally good.
Blows my mind that they never lost a man and only one severely wounded.
Great movie! Saw it about 2010 or so.
Those guys got screwed but they did do some damage to those attacking them.

The movie was released in 2016.

The Wild Geese is a Brit flick based on Mad Mike. The plot is more Dogs of War.

I enjoyed it seeing all the FALs... but I must admit one part that made me laugh was when the sniper on the roof put down his sniper rifle to use the machine gun in single shot to snipe the guy in the white suit since he was so far away...

Yeah, I also thought that was an odd choice.
I wonder how much factual liberty was taken with the history.

Excellent movie! Shows real soldiers and real fighting by brave men long before DEI ruined the military.

Good movie. The UN is a third world wastebasket.
