Spring is the best time of year to shoot gophers. Once they come up and start running around, it can be mayhem. Shooting gophers is some of the best therapy a guy can get without a prescription.

Yesterday it got up to the mid 60’s and the gophers weren’t as thick as they will be once they have their young ones, but it still wasn’t a bad day with:

17 HMR
17 CCM
224 Weatherby Magnum
218 Bee
9mm
40-50 Sharps Bottleneck

If you know...you know.
Those 17s are bad ass !!

sweet gathering of irons
Pretty fantastic. The 22 and 17 CCM brass is just about unobtainable. I have a friend that built a 22 CCM and is making his own brass in various ways. He’s settled on swagging down 5.7x28 brass since 22 hornet brass is hard to find.
Nice looking rifles!
There isn’t anything funner!
I highly endorse your handgun choice,H & K P7M-8 is my personal favorite !
Them ain't gophers! 😉
Ground squirrels?
Prairie dogs?

22 Hornet brass won’t work unless he turned them down in a lathe. Even then the side walls would be gone …

It's a Montana thing, just like asking for a soda will get you a blank stare, up there, it's called pop. Don't fight it.
I still don't like shooting the babies.

Another good Montana thing is the Calvert Ditch and the cold pack.

I don't know if that even made it off the Hi line.
Please tell us about that 218 Bee. Bunch of fine rifles there.
Looks like a fine way to spend a day. Nice.
Spermophelia?

One of a set of rare Sako chamberings. They are scarce and desirable. This is a real early L46 with the wing safety. Here is a picture of those scarce L 46 rifles.

Extremely scarce 7X33
Scarce 218 Bee
Scarce 22 Hornet
L46 222 Remington

You are right. Finding a gopher pasture with lot's of activity is a great way to spend the day. Great collection of guns that you brought out. Love nice wood stocks

I know from past posts there are many more days in the gopher patches ahead for you. Looking forward to seeing more of your collection.
Great guns. Shooting rodents is fun.
If a gopher had to go, it would want to go from a Shrapnel rifle. The man knows quality.
What is that very first rifle in your first pic, it is absolutely gorgeous.
👍👍👍
Varmit hunting...with style! Well done, Shrap. Bonus points for the Sharps; even though there was a bit of over-penetration. wink

Cooper 57M 17 HMR…
Collecting fine guns is cool. Using them is awesome. As many rifles as you use what is your routine for keeping them all in such good condition?

I call bullshit clearly the goph next to the 9 wasn't shot by it. Everyone knows the lungs would have been blown clear out of it. Mb

It's schitt like this that makes us accumulators hate collectors....not so much though, since you're actually out there getting them dirty.
I need to get out to Nevada and do some of that, gorgeous guns Shrap!!

You are confused you must be thinking of the 9 mm Creedmoor
Shrap never disappoints in the rifle department.

Cool stuff as always.
Very nice.I dont get to go until May. Darn it.
Nice bunch of rifles. It’s always a trip to the gun museum on your posts. Looks like a great day in field and I wish we had some of those little suckers around here but I don’t think the farmers would be too thrilled about ‘em. 😁
Looks like a lot of fun. Great taste in rifles!
