Some were really good, like Forrest Gump, while others were more iconic, like Top Gun and Rocky IV (which played in every gym through the 80's and 90's).
The first time I ever saw your face. From the Clint Eastwood movie” Play Misty for me”. Musical artist Roberta Flack. I was a kid when the folks took us to the movies to see this one. Clint Eastwood was fascinated by this song. Roberta was put on the map when the movie came out. There is a lesson to learn here as Clint knew it would work.
Sahara, the 2005 movie with Matthew McConaughey had a good one. Best listened to in surround sound. When you start out with cannon fire and shot banging off a civil war ironclad then segway into Dr John singing right place wrong time it's a pretty good opening scene. Then a mix of classic rock with African/african inspired music through the rest of the film.
Repo Man - 0:00 TV Party - 5:15 Institutionalized - 9:10 Coup D'Etat - 13:05 El Clavo Y La Cruz - 15:06 Pablo Picasso - 18:10 Let's Have A War - 22:15 When The [bleep] Hits The Fan - 24:50 Hombre Secreto (Secret Agent Man) - 28:05 Bad Man - 29:55 Reel Ten - 35:03 (the track you were really hunting for) : )
reel ten is the song when emanuel esteves travels through space/time in a flying 1964 Malibu with dead aliens in the trunk
Also, not a soundtrack but the song I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston. Will be playing it at my wife's funeral tomorrow.
Jim
Jim, sorry to hear of your wife’s passing. That song is iconic . Written by Dolly Parton . About 35 years ago I dated a whacked out girl, (which is one’s I always got) and she dumped me. Then about a months later the phone would ring around midnight and she never identified herself. Then that song would start. Somewhere around halfway through the song she would hang up. Both of her parents committed suicide.
It's strange because I grew up at the same time that this movie set. I love Dazed & Confused.... It is as it was.
Great Movie & Soundtrack too. I was in HS also at the time period the movie was supposed to represent.
Also had a Chevy Malibu SS like the one McConaughey drove in the movie when I was a sophomore in 1976. Mine was a 1972 model that was green. But it had the 350 small block, not the 454 like the movie car.
Another great Soundtrack was from a little know Movie “FM” in 1978. The movie sucked but I still listen to the soundtrack today.

Lots of good ones here, somewhere in my boxes of albums, I have the soundtrack to "FM", I forgot how good it was! For a little offbeat, the ST from "Night of the Comet" was pretty good.
This thread has shown me that there are a lot of really good sound tracks. I was at a potluck in Bettles AK one year and someone was playing a great sound track, Toto and all. I asked what it was. " Guardians if the galaxy " because of this, it will always be one of my favorites
Quigley Down Under Last of the Mohicans and Having the soundtrack of Dances With Wolves on as we decended down from I-90 into the Badlands of South Dakota was a real goose pimple raiser.
Oh boy...lots of good ones to choose from.... All time favorites...
Conan the Barbarian Heavy Metal Jaws Blues Brothers Star Wars
Honorable mentions... The Good, the bad, the ugly.....(Hard to argue) Top Gun 8 Mile O' Brother , where Art Thou South Park...bigger longer and uncut... Ninja Turtles (Original)
