Bought a new HP laptop yesterday. went to set it up, and right away it wants to connect to the internet. OK, wants a PIN number, found on the router. No pin number on router, a serial number and Model number. Laptop would accept neither. This is a fiber optic internet , installed in partnership with our electric coop. I have a card given when it was installed with a number, and password used to set up my old HP laptop and my PC. those numbers mean nothing to this computer. Where do I find what it is wanting? Thanks for any help. miles
Miles,

It's common for routers to have a build in default pin number. Sometimes routers will reset to factory defaults. Google the make and model of your router. Typically you will find the factory defaults along with instruction on how to access the router from your laptop, and if necessary reset to factory defaults, adjust your firewall settings, etc.
I've always found the OEM password or PIN or key on a sticker on the bottom of the router.

Here's some AI:

A router's PIN, or Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) PIN, is an 8-digit combination of letters and numbers that encrypts and protects a home network. It's usually located on the back or bottom of the router, and is labeled as "WPS PIN" or "WPS Key". It may also be found in the router's documentation, such as the user manual, or in the router's settings

Call your coop or installer for the pin. If you dont own the router as in they installed as a package pin is not there.
Should add look on the back of the router for a little blue button, if there push it then let win11 use wps which should bypass the pin number.
I am in. Kept dicking around with it and it popped up a link where I could type in the information that my internet provider wrote down. Number and password. fired right up then. Thank you. Still not sure what I did to get it fixed, but it is. miles

There's an add blocker built into brave.
Ublock origins is the best add on add blocker at the moment.
Could be an encryption key instead of a password pin.
yea spectrum does not have a pin for wii fii on back of there routers or modem
We recently got fiber internet through our electrical company. 1gb for 80 bucks a month. Yeah, they had the initial signon info on the manual for our router.
Microsoft PIN, or router PIN?

If you're having an issue with the router simply press the Pair or WPS button on the router. If it's a Microsoft PIN log into your email account on another device and reset your PIN.
