Lived there years ago while I attended FSU.
My younger brother worked for the Leon County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) and after doing some "ridealongs" with him and several friends who were Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) officers, made me realize that serving in local law enforcement wasn't for me. I kept my happy ass in the USMC.
My hat's off to the members of law enforcement that deal with this crap every day.

We're dealing with that right now in one of our rentals. Guy just figured that since he lost his job and is having a hard time finding a new one (felonies on his record) that we should just let him live there until he can get another job. Luckily the judge did not agree. I keep telling the wife that we need to sell our rentals, especially at our age, but she is reluctant. I did hear that Iowa is talking about making you wait 90 days before you can start to evict a tenant. Sucks that these people have more rights to your property than you do. 😕

Incredible that in some states you do not have to mark your boundaries or fences anymore it is up to the encroachers to know if it’s private or not. In the cities where you own a home, pay utilities and taxes plus upkeep and someone can still takeover while your away?

Took me over 6 months to get rid of my problem. They know all the laws in their favor. They didn’t leave until the day the cops were coming to evict. And they left the place trashed.
I sold my rental, wasn’t worth it anymore.

I think if I were LEO I'd find out who authored, sponsored, co-sponsored, and voted for, and interpreted as a judge and/or jury the laws giving squatters so much leeway and that's where I'd drop the squatters off. Same for anyone in the media who strongly supported the legislation. Bus-loads of squatters into their neighborhoods and especially into any rental properties they or their family owned, police surround the area and don't let the squatters out of the neighborhoods.
The whole idea behind a Constitutional Republic is that the representatives are subject to the legislation which they pass.

It’s amazing to me that there are people that can do that job and deal with that day after day. It seems like sooner or later a LEO would be having a bad day and snap.

I told him the leave and he told me the only way I was going to get rid of him was when I Died.
Called the cops.
They gave him all the rights and told me I basically had no rights over my own property.
That I would have to go the eviction way.
He drug that out as long as he could.
We made it to Court and I showed the Judge the Text messages where he threatened his mom.
The Judge gave him a bit over 30 more days to hold us hostage on my property.
We had to call the Sheriff to remove him after the dead line the Judge gave him to get out.
The Threats were flyin as the Sheriff escorted him off my Property.
I still had to wait after that to take my boat back and clean it up.
Buckets of human chit and piss all over in the inside of the boat.
The boat has a Porta Potty in it that was the only clean thing in the boat because he never used it.
The entire boat was destroyed inside with trash everywhere.
