Not many, 2,000 locals taking up arms on short notice was an amazing developmen, surprises me now as much as it did the Brits back then. Can’t say that level of support was common across the Colonies tho.
Almost surprising as the constant harassment of General Howe’s forces by local militia ‘76/‘77 in NEW JERSEY of all places. Those guys wouldn’t even recognize New Jersey today.
