Word came today my old pard and best bud died this morning after breakfast. Nursing home, encephalitis, some dementia. Watching his life be sold off, only memories to live on. Hits harder than I anticipated, I now have no tight friends left.
First opportunity I will get out and shoot the Colt Commander I got from him.
Good memory; his son married my daughter so the grandsons got to camp and hunt with both granddads on the same trips.
He was not on the fire.

Go shoot that Colt. Know he will be with you when you do.

My condolences . I think it was neat that you guys were related and camped together. Very few relatives have that bond. Alan

losing your good friends one by one is one of the worst parts of getting old. I see it way too much now. Most of my longtime buds were older than me and time is taking it's toll. I feel for your loss. It makes pushing trough that much harder.

There is just no replacing them.

A person's never gone as long as someone remembers them.

Every time you are with the grandson a bit of him will be with you.

I know how you feel. Every week that goes by, it seems I lose another old friend, relative or pal. Old age, and the crap that accompanies it are what we all face.

Does not make it any easier to handle though.

Somewhere not far from you in a guy who is in the same boat. He lost his best friend and is in grief over it as well. He also likes hunting, fishing and guns ect. Try to find that guy and chat about your life’s experiences.

I have lived in many parts of the US. I met great people in all places. There are idiots everywhere but there are a lot of decent people too.

There is no expiration date on friendships. No, you don’t have a lifetime to foster a new friendship. But to say that you have no one left to hang out with is utter BS in my opinion.

Loneliness is a terrible thing in itself. The good news is that it’s largely voluntary if you can get around.

Really hate that for you. Condolences.
