bearbeater:

This is the standard procedure after 9/11. Put them in a locking gun case, declare them at the ticket counter and have TSA inspect them. Then lock the case and TSA will deliver them to you at the baggage counter on the other end. I've done this several times with long guns and hand guns. It has always worked fine. The cost you have to pay for the extra bag is less than the cost of shipping them and paying FFL fees at both ends.

You can legally ship them to yourself ...........since you are talking about shipping handguns, you can't mail them, you must use a common carrier.......the big question is can you find a common carrier who will ship them......

(B9) May a nonlicensee ship firearms interstate for his or her use in hunting or other lawful activity? [Back]

Yes. A person may ship a firearm to himself or herself in care of another person in the State where he or she intends to hunt or engage in any other lawful activity. The package should be addressed to the owner. Persons other than the owner should not open the package and take possession of the firearm.
