See the motorcycle?

How about now?

The Honda crotch rocket rider was traveling at approximately
85 mph. The VW driver was talking on a cell phone when she
pulled out from a side street, apparently not seeing the
motorcycle. The riders reaction time was not sufficient
enough to avoid this accident. The car had two passengers
and the bike rider was found INSIDE the car with them.
The Volkswagen actually flipped over from the force of impact
and landed 20 feet from where the collision took place.
All three involved (two in the car and the bike rider) were
killed instantly. This graphic demonstration was placed at
the Motorcycle Fair by the Police and Road Safety
Department. Pass this on to car drivers or soon to be
new drivers, or new motorcycle owners. A picture is
worth a thousand words.

Wake up people , Stop talking on Cell phones and
Texing while trying to drive. Put your Cell phone
in the back seat !!!
Wow.
Gruesome.
eek
of course, if the motorcycle was going a bit slower as well....

I thought the same thing, Pete.

As a 'crotch rocket' rider myself, I think that you need to ride like you are invisible, basically.
Assume people are going to do stupid chit and you won't be taken by surprise.
Wow........................................................

Ever see a guy on a motorcycle using a cell phone with his left hand? That makes you think.

I'm guessing that pics are British and from the mention that the car "pulled out of a side street", the speed limit was more than likely 60mph on lets call them open roads, or 40mph / 30mph in other areas, so the bike was probably doing somewhere between "well" over the speed limit to "stupidly" over it...
I was wondering the same thing about the roads in question.
People in cars, at least here, don't expect a bike to be moving that fast through an intersection, which is reasonable.

My old Kawasaki ZX-10 would do 100 mph in FIRST GEAR and go from 0-60 mph in under 3 seconds- so it is very easy to get yourself in trouble if you don't keep that throttle in check!!

Steering wheel's on the left. Doesn't mean it wasn't being driven in the UK, though.

The motorcycle in question looks like a Honda RC-30 or perhaps NC-30?
Very rare in the United States, I believe.

Your right...slightly different pics of the same vehicles have appeared in the press over here just recently, so thats why I thought is was on our roads...

If it was somewhere in Europe, the speed limits are more or less the same, (except in Km/H equivelents of course) but not I'm not sure about the States though???
Policemen giving seat belt tickets while people talking and texing on cell phones are driving by, comes to my mind.
Shazam!
Wow! that is gruesome.
Damn. that gave me goosebumps.
Daum!
Like most pictures that bounce around the internet for a while, this set has several different write ups that have appeared with it. Hard to tell which one is correct. It seems that the agenda of the author frequently determines who is at fault.

Swedish Motorcycle Crash

This one blames the speed of the motorcycle.

Watched a Harley rider texting with both hands on the interstate a few weeks ago. Musta had the bike on cruise. I considered lighting him up with the train horns but didn't want to cause a wreck and get other driver's involved. Hopefully the gene pool will be cleansed without him taking other lives.......

One of my three work trucks is a bright red F150 Supercrew. You'd think that people would see a BRIGHT RED FULLSIZE CREW CAB, but apparently not.
Maybe if the bike had airbags and seat belts they would'a all lived. And if frogs had wings...
Why was the biker doing 85 on a city street??

Yeah, the idiot pulled out in front but it's the biker's duty to pay attention and keep speed within limits, in order to avoid things like that....

Now, if he'd a been wearin' a full-face helmet, I'm SURE he'd be jess fine...
Wow, that is pretty gruesome!
Back in the early '70s I saw a picture almost identical to that one of a Triumph (I think) Bonneville back wheel sticking out the side of an older VW after hitting it broadside. The rest of the bike was smushed inside the car. Both driver and rider were killed.
While i ride, there is still something to be said about going 85 on a street. Would the car have seen a regular car or truck and recognized it comint that fast? That is pretty much the definition of "coming out of nowhere"
Yep. Not trying to place any blame here but when I pull up to a stop sign, I'm looking for vehicles coming from either direction, moving approx. the speed limit. A driver closing faster than usual screws up his reaction time and mine.

That said, when I still rode on 2 wheels, I knew that "I had to drive for everyone on the road, not just myself", as I used to say.
How did the bike get to 85 mph in that room?
Mike,
Some of the bikes out today a very fast-mine will do 100 mph in first gear.
Easy to get from say 35 to 85 in a block or two?

The 3d pic shows the steering wheel on the left unless the photo was flipped. Do you have many left handers there? I don't see a license plate on any of them. They probably removed the bike's plate before putting it on display.
Ah some more candidates for the Darwin Award of the year for gene pool cleaning.

According to the article somebody posted on here the bike was traveling at 155 MPH when it hit the car.

I don't doubt that Tim, but I was wondering about enough space to get to 85 in that hotel lobby on carpet! wink

Sounds a little bit like my family-my sense of humor is kinda warped-as they are at pains to remind me!
grin

This was an email sent to me from friends in Dallas. I asked them where it came from and was told "friends sent it." Typical. I thought it was here in the USA, until someone noted the differences. It's a universal message though.

I couldn't figure out how to post it, so Jeff posted it for me.

As a matter of fact, I have. Only thing that dingdong had that could be called safety gear were sunglasses.
