Any of you guys ever use one of them in your pick-up? I would like to try one...but I don't think they would be very tough, and I hate getting conked in the head with my own rifles......suggestions?
I had one above the visors on my old Blazer. Liked it alot. Can't put them there on the new pick-up.

I've got one in my truck(ext. cab chevy)that I've been using for about nine years. Been over all kind of rough South Texas terrain and never had a rifle fall out. Only problem I have had is with the hot summer temps inside the truck the adhesive on the velcro strips started to melt and the strips started peeling off. A couple of zip ties around the velcro and brackets solved that problem. Long barreled shotguns don't fit real well either, but for rifles I really like them. C.

I just re-read PDS post and thought I would add mine is the Big Sky rack that mounts to the sides of the cab, not the over visor model. Works real well as a clothes hanging rack also. C.

I had one of the over the visor racks in my old Dodge and ABSOLUTELY loved it!!!. It wouldn't work in my newer one (Extended Cab). I tried one of the Big Sky racks and wasn't as happy. I got creative and made brackets to hold the "gun shelf" over the back seat. It works almost as well as over the visor.

I'm in the logging biz and spend much time on rough roads and have never had a problem.

I had one of the behind the visor racks in my old GMC. Loved it but the rifle would come out on bad roads. When I got my Ford 150 standard cab I couldn't find one of those to fit.

Put a Big Sky rack in it. Works ok but you better not be too tall. Would work a lot better in an extended cab. If you mount it with the muzzle to the left you got to get used to looking down the muzzle when you get in. Yeah, I know there isn't anything in the chamber but still---

If you rack the rifle the other way you CAN catch the butt in the forehead when you jump in fast. Trust me on that. You also got to deal with the bolt handle hanging down in the seating space.

However the rifle won't come out no matter how bad a bump the pickup hits. At least mine hasn't and I hit some pretty fair holes now and then.
