I'm not so sure. Cerberus isn't likely to make fiscal mistakes. If they thought Marlin still viable, they'd move it. If not, they'd close it. They're well known as being pretty damn ruthless. Moving the Marlin machinery is not that big of a deal, and as long as they have the room at the plant the 870's are mfg. in, they're already paying the taxes anyway.
Given the climate today, you can well imagine the back-room deals that were made to shut down CT and place them there.

IMHO it was a sad day when DuPont sold Remington and a even sadder day when Remington acquired Marlin.

Makes sense to co-locate Marlin with Rem's production facility.

While upstate NY can use any help it can get, it seems unfortunate to me as I liked the recent work coming out of the Marlin North haven plant more than I liked the work coming out of Remmingtons Illion plant.

In any case its good to know that the Marlins will continue.
