Only a week after the news broke, FINALLY a press release:

http://www.marlinfirearms.com/News/press.asp#2010-03

"Madison, NC The Freedom Group, Inc., announced the closure of its Marlin manufacturing facility, located in North Haven, Connecticut. The transition of Marlin firearms production in North Haven to a future site will not affect customers shipments or the range of Marlin product offerings. At the time of last Thursdays announcement, the Freedom Group was still evaluating several relocation options and will announce the future production site of Marlin firearms when the final decision is made.

As competition in todays global marketplace remains intense, consolidation of our manufacturing processes and operating systems allow us to provide Marlin customers with the highest quality products at competitive prices, said Ted Torbeck, Freedom Groups Chief Executive Officer. We are committed to the Marlin brand, its core product offerings and bringing innovative new Marlin firearms to our customers."

Do you think Connecticut is getting the message they are running business out of the state? Nah!!!
and there was good info on the ATK/destruction of military brass situation on that site as well.

They'll get it next election when every candidate running against an incumbent fills TVs and newspapers with the full information.
They're going from CT to NY..... Really?

someone didn't do their homework.

I'm not so sure. Cerberus isn't likely to make fiscal mistakes. If they thought Marlin still viable, they'd move it. If not, they'd close it. They're well known as being pretty damn ruthless. Moving the Marlin machinery is not that big of a deal, and as long as they have the room at the plant the 870's are mfg. in, they're already paying the taxes anyway.
Given the climate today, you can well imagine the back-room deals that were made to shut down CT and place them there.
IMHO it was a sad day when DuPont sold Remington and a even sadder day when Remington acquired Marlin.
Life goes on.

Read the same thing elsewhere.
Makes sense to co-locate Marlin with Rem's production facility.

While upstate NY can use any help it can get, it seems unfortunate to me as I liked the recent work coming out of the Marlin North haven plant more than I liked the work coming out of Remmingtons Illion plant.

In any case its good to know that the Marlins will continue.
