Had an interesting conversation with a leader of the "Pink Pistols" today. The reason I called their headquarters in Philadelphia was to ask them their opinion of what gay assemblyman Tom Ammiano from SF had to say during a recent committee vote, where he said "anyone who feels the need to carry a gun, does so to compensate for other obvious in inadequacies."

I asked him why his gay group and woman's groups weren't out front blasting Ammiano? It got me to thinking why gun rights groups don't use more groups who benefit the most from gun rights, those with a bigger target on their backs than the traditional gun owner, those who need the playing field leveled the most?

Next up, Pink Pistols SF chapter, I'm going to lite a fire under them to publicly blast Ammiano and speak out for CCW rights.

Pink Pistols...never heard of them before.

So you asked him those two questions, what was his answers?
Posted By: Barkoff Re: The Pink Pistols - 04/22/10
Well basically he told me to contact the regional office in SF since they would be more in tuned with Ammiano and the bills in CA

He said it is hard to mobilize they gay community against democrats and democrat positions, do to the fact most gays see democrats as their friend. Though a lot of gays may be in favor of gun rights for protection, it is hard to get them to go against a gay assemblyman like Ammiano.

I made the point to him that although his group may be small in numbers, their message still would be a strong one and those in his group should speak out more on gun rights even if that means they leave Ammiano out of it. Same with woman's groups.

Maybe then I would have heard of the Pink Pistols without stumbling across them when googling gun rights for gays and woman.

He then asked me if I wanted to join, I told him I was not gay. He said that doesn't matter. I told him I would think it over. I do know this guy named Northern Dave who might be interested and gave him Dave's email... wink

Uh, just out of curiosity, since you stated that you are NOT gay. How do you happen to know about these "Pink Pistols" anyway?
Posted By: gbp Re: The Pink Pistols - 04/22/10
""PP"" have been around for quite a while, but naturally ever came into the fold so to speak. CalGuns has had the discussion on several occasions about joining up to help fight the onslaught of regs. but if they would rather give up their rights than realize who the enemy is so be it. you know the balance beam of justice gay/ dem on one side gun rights/repub on the other
make your choice and don't bitch
Posted By: 4xbear Re: The Pink Pistols - 04/22/10
Many of the posters here may not care for the Gay life style, myself included, but were they to come out against assemblyman Tom Ammiano and others like him it would be of great benifit to anyone looking to keep their 2nd amendment rights. Besides it would really pizz some Dems off! Bear Before you start yelling the more we have on our side the less we have to fight against.

I take it you didn't read the whole thread,

They have been around for some time, even joined in a pro gun rally in Tampa one time.
Posted By: derby_dude Re: The Pink Pistols - 04/23/10
I've said it time and time again there are more conservative homosexuals out there then you would think. Many of them would vote Republican if it wasn't for the right wing Christians in the Party. A lot of people who would vote Republican are stopped cold by the right wing Christians. I know because I've been there.

Wow.

this one's taking a turn for the worse...

but then again, it probably deserves it.

If the [bleep] don't like the right winged conservative Christians, well, then, screw them... no WAIT!
awe, never mind.

Now, spanky's homo hairdresser packing heat.
That's funny. Sick, but funny.

No, it's my hair dresser who is gay.
Posted By: AcesNeights Re: The Pink Pistols - 04/24/10
BUT....having a hairdresser is, in and of itself is GAY.

You either do it yourself or you go to a Barber.
Posted By: Archerhunter Re: The Pink Pistols - 04/24/10
Actually, in Spank's defense I have a hairdresser, too.

She's retired from the business and she's my aunt. I go to her mostly for conversation. She's conservative, Christian, heterosexual, can shoot strait and field dress a deer, so perhaps it's not all that much in Spank's defense afterall. grin

Now, I got to admit, that's a new one on me---hetero-phobic!

It's been my observation that when people make the kinds of jokes about a type of person it's either because they fear that type of person or they fear maybe they are that type of person.

With all the gay bashing that goes on on the Fire I think many of you fear being bi-sexual at least if not a homosexual.

But hey, carry on, don't let me stop you.

Hell, I thought he was startimg a discussion about those Lady Smiths with the Pink grips. I just bought two of them for graduation presents, one for my daughter and one for my neise.
Posted By: derby_dude Re: The Pink Pistols - 04/24/10
What's a "neise"? grin
Posted By: AcesNeights Re: The Pink Pistols - 04/24/10
Derby----I've known some damn fine folks that are gay but that doesn't mean that I can't make fun of them any more than my being Irish means they can't make fun of me. I have gay friends that I'd fight to the death for so don't play the intolerant card...it's almost been as overdone as the race card....

Nice try though....

I hear ya.

I'm not saying anyone on here is being intolerant, I'm saying straight out (no pun intended) that a lot of men on the Fire are scared stiff of being gay or bi-sexual hence the gay bashing that goes on.

As to gay jokes, the funniest ones I hear are from my gay friends. Gee if big brother was listening when they get going we'd all be in trouble.

Twin Cities - new?? Nah.. they been around for over a decade... There was an article about the group in one of the TC rags, maybe 12+ years ago..

You are right my hairdresser is gay. He is also my wife's hairdresser. In addition to doing my hair he does (the hair) of other prominent male citizens of this community. He enjoys a fine reputation and you would do well to respect him.

He is not one of those flaming "in your face queers" but, not to worry, you couldn't afford his services.

no offense but i wouldnt want his " services " wether i could afford them or not
Posted By: tbear Re: The Pink Pistols - 04/24/10
The Pink Pistols have been written about in many outdoor & shooting magazines. Shortly after they were formed I received a call from a local spokesperson requesting firearm training. I'm associated with a variety of programs so that wasn't unusual. I have received calls from PETA & other anti gun & anti hunting organizations through the years. The so called Pink Pistol rep stated that they would provide a cook out & (laughing) a sleep over. We offered the training, but they never responded. Might have been our lack of interest in a sleep over or just someone playing a joke.
