A local talk radio host that is usually quite good really annoyed me this morning with the all to common by media mistake of calling poaching hunting. This frequent misstatement negatively influences the uninformed public's perception of hunting and hunters. Ulitimately this is a threat to our hunting and arms rights Do not let any media outlet or personality make this mistake without informing them and if possible their audience about the difference!

What the hey, they call bad guys killed by a good guy in selfdefense a "VICTIM" what do you expect, real reporting?
A few years ago when a bull moose was poached by an azzhole with a crossbow and left to die a slow death on the Hillside above Anchorage, the local media also use the term "hunter". I called the radio station I listend to and objected.

"What term would you use?" I was asked. "Poacher" "Criminal" "Jerk" "Azzhole" I replied. "'Hunter' is an ethical term which does not apply to this situation. Please do not use it again" To their credit KFQD (750) did not, that I heard.
