Leinies has a new and very limited run of Big Eddy - Russian Imperial Stout..

Holy Hannah!! It makes Creamy Dark look like distilled water.. Black, HEAVY, molassasy-carmel stuff with foam stiff enough you could sleep on it.. With 9.5 alcohol content!! I had ONE glass yesterday and thought I'd downed a six-pack of CD...

Anyway - for those who desire the darker brews - beware.. It's AWESOME stuff but very limited.. If you like it - get it while ya can...

laugh
Wish I knew where I could find it! Will look around.

I love Yuenglings "Black and Tan" but can't find it anywhere here in Michigan! mad

Good to know Redneck. I'll look for it tonight.

For you guys with beer problems. You should really talk to the manager of your local grocery store. It's rare that I can't get just about any beer out there. Regardless of where I've lived. Most managers are very accomodating.

Just sent a co-worker a message to look for some Big Eddy as he went to Wisconsin to visit family.

Also have some Yuengling Black and Tan coming from PA! smile

Black, HEAVY, molassasy-carmel stuff

Might be good on ice cream! That isn't my kind of beer, though.

Going to get some blue labels

I know I sound like a vag...but I'll take Coors Original or Bud heavy/light any day over that dark crap. I drink my coffee black, but dark beer just tastes like $hit to me.
I have no idea what $hit tastes like! smile

Me too, but I have a feeling your 'black' coffee will be quite weak when comparted to mine.. When I make black coffee, it's close to what Big Eddy's like laugh

I've found that most people who gravitate towards the darker/heavier stuff tend to be at the upper end of middle age or older.. At (almost) 62, I'm THERE... laugh

LMAO.. Touche!!
I'm 22 and thinking I need to try some big eddy. I like creamy dark and a bunch of different micro brewed porters and stouts from our state. Fireside nut brown might be my favorite though.
Posted By: Redneck Re: For those who like BEER!! - 11/24/10
Good man.. Let us know how you like it..
Thanks Redneck!! You are a gentleman and beer scholar!!

Some years ago I bought a 6 pack of Storm Bringer an Imperial stout. Did'nt look at the bottles just had a few while doing some house chores. Woke up on the floor around 11pm. Later noted 10.5% on the bottle. Should have looked into that earlier.
Big Eddy's huh? I doubt I'll find it here in mayberry north but I'll look for it anyways.

Lee - do you use sugar in your coffee?
Say it aint so Lee....

Most exotic brew up there is Old Vienna. grin
I'll have to look for it. Really enjoyed the Leine "dark and creamy" when I was up that way in Oct.

30 here and prefer the dark stuff.

I'm partial to the white lable, and if one want's a liquid meal, the smoked porter is pretty good stuff.

T LEE drinks black coffee, the stronger the better, NO additives thank you very much. I LOVE Cafe' Cubano when I get the chance for the real deal at a Cuban restaurant that makes it the traditional way and can down several cups at a setting.
Just wondering since you like the sweeter beers.
The stuff from Cameraland is good too!

I guess I don't consider Creamy Dark, Guinness or Big Eddy's to be sweet..

I don't know of a beer I'd call sweet.. Never thought about it I guess..

Quality choices.

Tell me about the Anchor Humming?

I see it in a couple of the Publix here, but it very well may not be in yours. Just like most of the Publix around here carry Czechvar, except the one nearest me.

It's all relative of course, but I mean relative to IPAs and ESBs.

IPA's are good if you like beer that taste like a pine cone smells.

Big Eddy has some of that pine hoppy flavor to it but not like an IPA.
Those are not the "good" IPAs. The good ones taste like God himself wanted beer to taste! smile
Red Neck,
I'm headed to Palmdale, Calif next week for my youngest son's Air Force retirement ceremony and party. I just emailed him to pick up some of that Big Eddy for me. I'll let you know what I think about it at that time, I'm a Becks beer person, but like to try others.
Butch
Well I tried man but the closest I could find is leinenkugels fireside nut brown.

And I like it. grin

It's an Aug-Nov seasonal ale, closer to Liberty Ale than to Steam. It uses Nelson Sauvin hops in enough quantity to provide big bitterness.

Interesting. I am a big Liberty Ale fan but can't always find it here.
Son called back from Calif. Said we were out of luck. Only available in Wisconsin, Minnesota area.

I've been drinking Sam Adams Latitude 48 lately too. Good stuff. Pretty hoppy, but not in an over the top way like some of the currently fashionable IPAs.

You know, that's one beer that I just don't care for...

I found out our local liquor shop was 'alloted' only four cases on Nov. 11th.. They were GONE by the 17th... DAMMITALL...

Well, I'll just have to mosey on down to the local joint and drink up till it's gone.. laugh I think he got just ONE keg.. This stuff is about as rare as chicken's teeth..

I gotta contact Leinies and plead..
