Seems they have banned all firearms, ammo, and knife ads across their network.

Bear

Don't agree with it, but also don't agree with false claims.

Quote
has learned that FOX Sports Media Group has banned advertisements featuring firearms and ammunition from its coverage of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) events.

Some UFC fights is a far cry from:

Quote
all firearms, ammo, and knife ads across their network.

From the comments that I guess you did not read and I did not quote from in my OP. Bear

I just got off the phone with Lou D'Ermilio, who is Senior Vice President of Communications for Fox, and he claims that this policy is not limited to UFC programming, but all programming on all Fox networks. He also claims that this policy has been in place for quite some time now. Give him a call at (212) 556-2573 and ask him why his company refuses to accept advertising from companies engaging in lawful commerce?

No, I'm not going to read comments from anonymous people on the internet, that may or may not have made a phone call.

If it covers all Fox programming and channels, then I am sure NSSF will add that, instead of only stating it effects UFC fights.

Do you believe every post made on this site and take it as gospel? If not, why would you believe one of 49 comments made by people that may or may not have any association to NSSF? For all you know, that ScottMcCarthy dude is Lee24.

Point taken. However we might just want to call the number in the comment and see what they have to say. Bear

Don't get me wrong, if it turns out to be network wide, they deserve our disdain. I just don't think we should jump to conclusions until we know the facts.

No problem FB but that's why I posted the comment with the number. We can't find out if we don't investigate. Cheers, Bear
I may be insane, but I could swear I've seen lots of Henry commercials on the Fox News Channel.

The Murdoch press was one of the loudest driving forces for tightening of gun laws in Australia - which would presumably have been under the personal oversight of Mr Murdoch, who always has a keen interest in and plays a big part in our politics.

Unlike you folks, we have had a hundred years of Murdoch media influence. We probably know them and their agendas a bit better than you guys do. Sometimes i think you are pretty naive about the Murdoch press.

The NSSF statement is quite clear: the ban is limited to advertising in connexion with the UFC events.

Agreed.

NSSF is encouraging all gun owners, sportsmen and firearms enthusiasts to contact FOX today and urge them to rescind this anti-gun corporate policy. FOXs decision to ban advertisements for lawful products owned by more than 80 million Americans is nothing more than corporate gun control. We expect better from FOX. So should you.

I think Fox are right and the NSSF campaign is ill inspired.

Perhaps, but if not for Fox news here, we would have had zero counter balance to the socialist major news networks here for the past 20 years.

I'm sure Murdoch just saw a huge niche that was being ignored, but thank god he is a businessman and not 100% communist like the other 3 majors we have here.

it seems like i saw a Henry rifles ad on fox cable channel just the other day, but i could be wrong.

You might not realise this, but several times he has backed Labor governments both here and in the UK. He will do what ever is expedient for the expansion of his own power - that is the only ideology he has ever really demonstrated. Normally, that means a more right-wing agenda, but he is certainly not someone opposed to government control of the citizenry - as long as he is not considered part of the citizenry (and he and his family never have been).

Generally, i think the Murdoch press down here is a good thing - at least their upmarket broadsheet. It is our one right-leaning major paper and our highest quality paper. But you must always approach anything Murdoch with your $hit-detectors on.

You may very well be insane. But you're right. I was watching Fox News this morning and saw the Henry Ad.

I have no doubt you are correct there. He is a cunning, single minded businessman. Fortunately, there is money still to be made in supporting a conservative audience.
Thank you for affirmation! I knew I'd seen it, most likely on O'Reilly. And with his audience #'s if they were gong to ban gun ads I'd think that would be a major one.

yep. they are running a for profit business. they will go in whichever or whatever direction the greatest amount of profit summons.

Soros, while a Capitalist is also socially minded. i suspect most of the rich in the world are the same way.

if the Fox clan can't make a profit selling capitalism, likely they'll change direction, and go into what they percieve as a more profitable direction.

remember, the German fascists supported Hitler, and he was a Socialist.

I have seen the Henry Rifle ad just about every day, if not twice a day. And on the Fox News channel at that.

I don't watch Fox News to buy my weapons but to at least get the halve truth , something you won't get from the other news networks
