An assistant cheerleading coach at an Indianapolis high school was arrested last week after police say she performed sexual acts on a 17-year-old male student, Fox59.com reported.

Megan Crafton, 22, who reportedly lists herself as engaged on her Facebook page, allegedly performed sex acts on the student inside her vehicle at a supermarket parking lot, the report said.

"We wouldn't be having this conversation if it was her and some other gentleman who doesn't go to the school, or isn't part of the school system, but unfortunately in this case, it was and it made it illegal," Michael Turner, a lieutenant at the Shelbyville Police Department, told the station.

Authorities point out that Crafton was in a position of authority as a school employee, the report said.

"When she signed on as an assistant cheerleading coach, she took a responsibility that she wouldn't have relations at that school," Turner said.

The alleged relationship occurred in January. Shelbyville High School officials alerted authorities about rumors circulating about the relationship, police said. Police were able to gather enough evidence to obtain a warrant and Crafton was arrested for child seduction, a D felony, the report said.

Crafton turned herself in on Thursday and pleaded not guilty.

I've been a victim. That treatment does not fall into the 'victim' category. I've always hated those who were so victimized. Some confuse blessings with victimization.

This will allow a probation officer and rest of the justice system to monitor her for life as a sex offender & probably make her end up on public assistance, since it has got to be tough for felons to find work.

our two-stranded DNA has about run it's course in being able to manage the world for the greater good. we were designed with a strong sexual component in order for us to survive back in the early days. now that survival, relatively speaking, is past history, the sexual component is still strong just like back in the early days.

sex was the mechanism that got us to where we are today, in large part. but, how do we control it now that world is full of hormonal driven young people? i'd like to know the answer to that one.

Fred Teacher, somewhere under 45 years old, or even older, wants to hook up with 17 and ups (or whatever the age of consent is in his state). The kids in his class just thing he's the coolest; he's funny, understanding, and drives a cool car/motorcycle. Ol' Fred could nail at least one or two every year, where's the harm? some here say.

It aint hard to impress teenagers, especially once they trust and respect you. It would be pretty easy to take advantage of some. That is a trust that should never be violated.

Also, the legal age of consent in Indiana can vary depending on the situation. In this case she got arrested for the CLASS D Felony because if you are a "Person of Authority" the legal age is actually 18. Google is your friend....

Depending on the laws in that state, this is a case of custodial sexual assault/misconduct. Any time someone is considered a custodial agent based on their position and ability to effect someone due to their position, sexual relationships can not be deemed consensual.

In some states, like California, this may not have been illegal. In my state, Washington, it is illegal.

The male student is a minor, and chest thumping aside, the coach broke the law. When I was in high school, the assistant soccer coach was shagging one of the girls on the team. I went to college with the girl and he drove up to school to "get some." They should have locked him up. It was wrong, and it doesn't matter that in this case it's a girl coach and a guy student. I attended a sexual harassment workshop sponsored by my school's insurance company over the Winter and they are deluged with lawsuits and it is a huge expense. We were told in no uncertain terms to have zero contact with students out side of official duties or we were dead meat. That's the way it should be.

Right out of college, I was a county agent for a few years, working with the 4-H program. I was single at the time. I can tell you for a fact that some of those high school girls will throw themselves at a man in that position. It would have been scary easy to get in big trouble in a hurry and some of them were very enticing. Others were, well, less than enticing...but equally easy.
