Even at that stage of Ava Gardner's life when was past her prime, had been living hard in the fast lane for years, she was still stunning. For beauty I see none of the "star" actresses of today who can even hold a candle to many of the "stars" of the earlier days of "Golden Hollywood."

Sure, they all faded, just as do all of us, but in their prime, they were extraordinary.

They paid so much attention to lighting and bringing out the full beauty of the woman's face, hair, eyes, etc. I know she'd be beautiful in a color photo (and drop dead gorgeous in real life!) but somehow I think color would actually detract from this same pose.
