Jane Russell, Rita Hayworth and the fiery redhead belongs right in there with them, and that is Maureen O'Hara.

Being that I have a red headed daughter, I can't leave her out of this discussion, Maureen O'Hara that is.

When I was a kid, all red blooded boys were in love with French actress Brigitte Bardot. However, some women age beautifully and some don't. Bardot was one of the latter.

Yep, Ava Gardner was one of the all time prettiest movie stars. Many years ago, I was at Paramount Studios with a producer who knew her. We were having lunch at Paramount's commissary when she walked in. She saw the producer with whom I was having lunch, came over, talked to him for a few minutes. I was introduced to her.

Even at that stage of Ava Gardner's life when was past her prime, had been living hard in the fast lane for years, she was still stunning. For beauty I see none of the "star" actresses of today who can even hold a candle to many of the "stars" of the earlier days of "Golden Hollywood."

Sure, they all faded, just as do all of us, but in their prime, they were extraordinary.

I'm only 31, you don't have to be old to like these ladies. Audrey, what a beauty. I'm wondering how we've made it this many posts in this thread and NO ONE has brought up Liz Taylor?

[Linked Image]

I also have to bring up Anne Hathaway, she's still current but has a very classic beauty. This would also fit in the thread where underboob vs sideboob was discussed. You're welcome!

You may have come closer to the truth than any man before!

Yes, too bad she was colateral damage from "Camelot"
And most of the real classic beauties are from the days before sylicone enhancement.
For being known almost all of her career as the goofy red haired wife of Desi Arnez, comedienne Lucille Ball was quite strikingly beautiful as young woman back in the early years of her screen career.

He called her "Bird Leg" and later dumped her.

I "see" him whenever I see a picture of Peter O'Toole. Maybe that's at least part of why I've never been a shoutin', prancin' fan of Peter O'Toole.

I love those classic Hollywood black and white glamour shots. They paid so much attention to lighting and bringing out the full beauty of the woman's face, hair, eyes, etc. I know she'd be beautiful in a color photo (and drop dead gorgeous in real life!) but somehow I think color would actually detract from this same pose.

Jim in Idaho- we have EXACTLY the same tastes. She blows all other Maureens out of the water in my book. Glad y'all liked the Dicksee. It is hard to find and the title is called "Miranda".

Went looking for a pic of Martha Vickers from "The Big Sleep" that does her justice. She is way up on my list and just adds to making that perhaps my all time favorite movie. Agree on that pick?

And I certainly agree about the old black and white glamor shots adding some special sense.
