The last project I've done. This was essentially a complete build, needing various springs, barrel, op-rod, gas cylinder, and stock. I've also added a more modern (Garand Gear) gas cylinder plug to accommodate a wider range of ammo, though I shoot M2 duplication loads in it. Not even historically correct, but I have fired it enough that I'd have confidence in it in a rough spot.

The one I posted was one of five USMC Benelli M1014s my gun manufacturer buddy was testing for a contract to modify them, so that they would cycle non-lethal loads (beanbag/rubber), something the Marines discovered they do very poorly-- if at all.

Good catch, sir. My wife had never handled a firearm before we met as adults, and while she is a righty, I saw right off the bat that she is left eye dominant. Having read about and received advice from long time shooters that I trust, rather than have her try to shoot righty with a closed/covered eye, had her shoot lefty instead. As she is a former athlete with excellent hand-eye coordination and being a blank slate, started her trying that out. It works. She's a crack shot with a rifle, especially a scoped one. One of these days I'm going to grab her a lefty small caliber bolt gun, but until then she just shoots mine lefty. With handguns, she doesn't seem to have any problem shooting cross control.

Model 41? One I will own in the not too distant future, I hope. Great shooters, all I've played with.

Not to cause any detour on a great thread (hey, THAT never happened before here!), but I have to ask about that knife.

That is exactly what I am looking for in a knife: Loveless style, tapered tang but in particular a handle big enough to grab on to rather than two eight-inch slabs stuck stuck on a blade.

Can you tell me who made that knife? I'm fantasizing about one just like that with an Elmax steel blade...

Yep, was kinda tough looking when I bought it but the price was right and it still shoots plenty good for anything I'll use a 22LR pistola for.

Years ago, when my grandfather passed away, a few of his guns got into the hands of a less desirable family member. I've heard tales of this shotgun, but it was the coconscious among my uncles, that it was sold a long time ago for dirt cheap, and had made it out of the family. My dad called me the other day, and said to stop by the house on the way home from work. My aunt was there and there were two guns on the floor. She said the family member that had them, put an ad in he paper so she bought them for what he was asking, before he could sell them to a stranger. My father took the savage 99 in 250-3000, that he always coveted. He then said, I know you've always wanted that shotgun, I already paid her for it, that one is yours! ( Funny, thing is what's mine is his, and vice-versa, I just have to think of something he needs in his gun cabinet to return the favor!). Anyway my "new" model 12, is a field grade 28 gauge, built in 1937. The bluing on the barrel is immaculate, no dings/pits, no screws buggered. The wood has a few dings but much better than expected for one of it's age and how it was used. The only real blemish is the bluing is worn thin on the receiver, from rubbing on my grandfather's canvas hunting coat. I personally think that adds value! From some internet research these guns are pretty rare, I seems as though Pop had a good taste in firearms! This one is never leaving the family again!



The pic isn't the best, but I'll get a better one, and post soon.

My new favorite, a .375 Ruger. Most critters are D.R.T. with it.

all I had when traveling was my iPad, and can't post pictures with it.
Back home in North Fla now.

Bobbed Stevens 620A,..gutted it,..cleaned it,..snipped the barrel back a bit,..milled out a front sight and screwed it on.

,..good old house gun.

Dad gave this to me a couple weeks ago. It had been his one and only deer rifle from the time he bought it from his older brother in the late 50's. The last shot it fired was on a 5 point he shot on opening day on my place. A neat full circle IMO, that Dad got what was likely his last deer on my place roughly 30 years after I took my first deer on the land he owned and raised his family on.

It's a 1951 model 94 in .32 Winchester Special. It's been a working gun all it's days and has plenty of wear to show for it, but it's priceless to me. Thanks for trusting me with it, Dad. It'll be right here waiting for you should you ever again decide to spend a few days chasing white tails.

This picture is probably the most special gun pic I have. It features my son, holding the rifle, and my Dad. This rifle is the same one that my dad held for me as I squeezed the trigger, sending me on my way to gun enthusiast at the tender age of about 5 or 6. I inherited the gun, an early 70's Nylon 66, from my Mom's Dad, Grandpa Russell, when he was killed by a falling tree in 1980.

Dad and my step mom came up to visit earlier this month for the first time in 7 years. We've seen them many times in the interim, but this is the first time in those 7 years that they've made it all the way up to our place.

One of my goals for that visit was to have my Dad help my son shoot the same gun that I cut my teeth on nearly 40 years earlier. Call me a nostalgic fool, but I can't think of a better way to get my son started on firearms than the way my Dad started me off. I even had a couple of the same Super-X cartridges that came with the gun when I got it in 1980. Why on earth a trigger happy youngster like me ever thought to save a few rounds of the ammo that Grandpa had purchase with the gun is beyond me, but I'm certainly glad to have done so. It made the event just a bit more special to me and the memory of my long gone Grandpa.

Here's a couple from Anticosti Island last year. This is my wife with her 4 pointer and a Savage 99F T/D with checkering. Fairly uncommon rifle in this configuration.



And here's a buck I got with an up to the time I got MY hands on it, unfired (speculation but I'm sticking to it) Savage 99K.

Are those original deluxe fields or restocks? They really are nice.

No, I really don't think so. At the end of the run of that model, some were checkered. IIRC, they were made the last 3 years of production (1938,39, and 1940).This one is a 1938 rifle. It IS a great rifle and it came from one of the Savage collectors. Thank for the compliment.

My "hillbilly" built .45 smokeless MZ arrived a few days ago.

That's a deluxe on top, trap 20 in middle, and trap skeet 20 on bottom. All original except had pads replaced about 10 years ago. Also had the trap skeet recheckered and oil finished.
