My computer no longer plays any sound from the internet - no videos or other sound. No sound in either Firefox or IE. The Normal Windows startup and shutdown sounds work, and so do videos saved on the computer. I ran CC cleaner, and also a full scan with Avast, and that didn't fix the problem. I suspect that some add-on got altered, somehow.

Suggestions?
I think Rick fixt the internet due to all the complaints over the John Deere ad. Other than that, I don't know.
There is a teeny little volume control in a Youtube window. Not sure how the heck I turned that to mute, but I did somehow. That fixed it smile
master volume tunred down. Check your sound setup and click advanced to show all the volume tabs to make sure one isn't muted.
Can you hear me now? grin

Starting this past weekend, every YouTube video I have opened from here on the'Fire has been muted and I have to manually adjust the volume.

I thought I had done something. Maybe something in the embedding process is changing the settings.

I went to master volume, and yes one channel was muted. Why, I don't know, I sure didn't do it.

No.

Mute "x" is on by the little speaker in the lower left, and it stays on even when I click it. Just like before and with all other clips.

That answers what the fox says. Grin
It's a pain , but instead of clicking on that speaker just put your mouse over it and you will see a little slider bar for volume , move that and sound works.
The worst part is you have to either pause the vid when it opens or backtrack to the beginning after you get the sound on.

Yes slide that little bar with IE and FF. Google Chrome works fine but Google owns YouTube. I think Google is jerking folks around.
