2002 Toyota Tundra Headlight Issue

My passenger side headlight is SUPER dim. The driver side is normal. When I switch them around, same/same. If I take the driver side out, the passenger side does not work at all. Any help?

Bad ground/connector would be my guess.

or something is just loose.. but I'd second the ground issue..

The neighbor hooked up his volt meter and tried something?? When he did the good light got brighter and the bad one went completely out. He's going to look up the wiring diagram and find out where the ground is located for the lights, he's an engineer so he should be able to figure it out.

Unfortunately, they don't make any of 'em simple anymore.

The headlights in that particular vehicle have individually fused circuits. If you have DRL, the ground should be somewhere on the left ft fender.

Check your left and right fuse one my be corroded or damaged

I would second a ground issue but would also check for a short in the trailer wiring harness,is should be fused separately but maybe a mini fuse to the trailer lights off the main headlamp circuit. Also check for a continuity in the circuit with the lights off.

ok, the dim light problem ended up being a bad 10A fuse. It wasn't blown, but was bad? Replaced it and they both came on.

Now, for some reason, one bulb is on bright and the other is on low beam. When I turn on my brights it reverses??

Most headlights have a relay due to the high amperage they pull. Bad relay??? or can it be "reset"????

Try swapping your headlights and see if it still does it.

Fixed.....my stupid self took apart the plug and swapped the high beam/low beam wires LOL.

Yeah, it's called the frame and there was a recall on that I believe....

I am sitting here looking at a recall for 2005-2011 Tacoma's with an access cab. Seems the seat belt bolts can come loose with repeated opening and closing of the access doors. They will let me know when they have a solution. I guess they never heard of loctite.
