We had bunch of them at the air port were I was trying to learn to fly. They were used for air mail delivery and air freight. Generally very tough planes. My instructor would always look over and count the planes as he knew the number out on delivery. He said if all of them are on the ground we ain't flying.
I was stationed at Griffiss and this was one of those "ghost" stories. We always heard it was a B-52 but the story about the crew parachuting out and the plane continuing on was accurate. Neat!
