Ran up to Globe for Mex food for my wife's birthday, there was enough snow left from last Wednesday's storm to make a 'poorly' snowman and have a snowball fight.

Had a few flakes here in Mesa and I love it when the Superstitions have snow down to the base.

I thought I was the only one crazy enough to drive from Phoenix to Globe for the excellent Mexican food. I like Libby's El Rey the best, but I haven't tried them all yet. El Charro is good too.

It's only an hour from our house. We like Guayo's El Rey on Sullivan in Miami, wife loves the ablondigas soup there... Challo's, Ed's La Casita, Burger house... the list is long.

We go so much they think we live there.

Your Granddaughter? She is a cutie.

Yep, granddaughter, she's 2 1/2, she's been a happy child with little fuss. She has a brother coming in april... he'll probably be a little chit to even it out...

I still think about the El Rey in Miami, even the salsa (for the chips) was memorable. going back soon, I heard they moved the tailings piles.

That little cutie must have had a grand time in the snow!

She looks like she might be pretty tough in a snowball fight. smile

There's supposed to be a TV show about the Superstitions coming out before long. I just caught a glimpse of an ad for it on some show we were watching. Not much info available about it. Some kind of "reality" TV, I think.

Chalo's is good!

We had 3" at the base of the Sierrita's at 3500 ft....

Good times.

Kent:

I've always liked the desert best in the morning after one of the rare occasions when it rains, because the air smells so fresh and clean.

Does it smell like that after it snows?

In 1991 I worked in Hawaii, for the construction company here, on a military base contract. We lived on the north shore in a company house, snorkeling, sea turtles, spear fishing, beautiful women everywhere.

It smelled wrong.

Couldn't wait to get back home to the wife and smell the desert.

Another time I had planned a december coues backpack hunt into the wilderness. At the trailhead there was a bunch of SUVs from a hiking club. I was going in and they were headed out after a day hike. One girl was astounded that I was headed in for a couple days and the weather was calling for snow at low elevation.

Yes I knew it was going to snow... no I wasn't going to die...

snow in the desert is magical and so is the smell.

Sitting under my tarp watching flakes start coming down.
